Nearly every firearm these days is designed with a score of active and passive safety features that exists to prevent unintentional discharges as a result of carelessness. Of course, carelessness can and will lead to accidents and must be avoided at all costs. But often times a firearm will not discharge unless a full and intentional pull of the trigger is made. You can thank manual thumb safeties, grip safeties and disjointed triggers for that. Many times, however, other less-noticeable passive safeties are at play as well.

Take the GLOCK for example, which boasts a system of three passive, independently-operating mechanical safeties that make an unintentional discharge next to impossible for those who follow the four cardinal rules of firearm safety. Then there are other, even less-noticeable components at work, like the AR-15 disconnector.

If your AR-15 is yet to blow up in your face, then thanks are due in part to a little piece known as the disconnector. What does the disconnector do? Well, we will get to that in a bit, but for now you need only know that Keepshooting.com now offers AR-15 disconnectors. Each AR-15 disconnector is a brand new, MIL-SPEC part that is guaranteed to fit and function in your MIL-SPEC AR-15.

The Keepshooting.com AR-15 disconnector is now available in our web store. Pick one up today for just $7.95.

The AR-15 disconnector, as are all of our Keepshooting.com house brand spare and replacement parts for the AR-15 platform, is a brand new part produced in a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that holds several foreign military contracts. As such, all parts are compatible with and interchangeable in any MIL-SPEC AR-15.

Located within the lower receiver adjacent the trigger, the AR-15 disconnector is a vital component to the safe and proper function of the rifle, as it plays a crucial role in preventing hammer follow. After a trigger pull and subsequent discharge, the hammer is reset as the bolt carrier group moves rearward. To prevent the hammer from riding the bolt carrier group forward as it moves into battery, the disconnector holds the hammer back until the trigger is also reset and capable of keeping the hammer back itself. Of course, this is only necessary if the trigger is held to the rear after the firing sequence has been completed. The disconnector is secured inside the lower receiver via the trigger pin.

Spare and replacement parts are an important consideration when it comes to firearms. Like any machine, firearms rely on a series of parts to function properly – especially those components that impact the firing sequence. In general, if a part breaks or fails, a repair or replacement becomes immediately necessary – not only to keep a firearm functioning properly but also to ensure the safety of yourself and those around you.

It is also important to consider availability when discussing spare and replacement parts. At this time, Keepshooting.com is seeking to provide our customers with a wide selection of spare and replacement parts for the AR-15 platform. Several brand new parts from the Keepshooting.com house brand are now readily available on our website at an affordable price. If you have any need or desire for spare or replacement parts, now would be a good time to take advantage of this offering.
