Browning Hi Power with serial number denoting it being purchased by Great Britian for its
Special Air Service and MI5 Undercover units. This particular "E-Prefix" Browning is
covered in great detail in Blake Stevens book "The Browning High Power Automatic Pistol" and is
a prized collectible Browning due to its service with British elite forces.
This Browning Hi Power retains approximately 85-90% of its original finish. Considering this
pistols age (close to 60 years old) and the fact that it was issued to elite forces, it is
is remarkably good condition. British SAS and MI5 agents traveled the world with these E-series
Browning High Powers, so if this gun could speak what a story it would tell.
The slide has some minor flecks of pitting near the ejection port and to the left of the front sight.
This was likely caused by the pistol's canvas holster and the climate this particular pistol was
used in (Hong Kong and Malaysia). Remember, this was an actively used pistol, issued to
elite forces of the British government. It was not purchased "new" by a collector and placed in a
safe for resale 60 years after it was made.
Engravings on the slide read:
FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE
HERSTAL BELGIQUE
BROWNING'S PATENT DEPOSE
Serial number E04027 is matched on both the frame and the slide. The Browning Pistol in the picture is the one you are purchasing.
Comes with one original 13rd magazine.
