The Remington 597 is a semi-automatic rimfire rifle chambered for the .22 Long Rifle, .22 WMR and .17 HMR. It has a removable 10-round magazine (22LR only). A magnum version that shoots the .22 WMR or the .17 HMR cartridge is available. The magnum version magazine holds only 8-rounds due to the larger size of the magnum rounds. The standard and magnum version has been in production since 1997, the .17 HMR version since 2003.
