This is it, folks – the scope mount for your HK rifle. It doesn’t get any better than an original, factory HK part made in Germany. It is important to consider availability when it comes to spare firearm parts and accessories. With so many reproductions being produced by lesser manufacturers, any time an original HK part is available for a good price it is wise to take advantage. Such is the case today.
Weighing in at less than one pound, the HK claw mount is a used surplus item constructed entirely from hardened steel and measures approximately 5.5-inches long, 1.8-inches high and 2.5-inches wide. That said each one is in excellent cosmetic and working condition. It features a matte black finish and is quickly mounted to the receiver by way of a lever connected to a rotating column. Conversely, it is instantly removed from the receiver by pressing the column-release lever.
The “high-profile” of the claw mount is an interesting feature incorporated into its design. It allows the user to see through the mount and provides access to the built-in iron sights on a rifle – perfect for those inopportune times when your optics fail.
As mentioned, both Weaver and Picatinny rails can be attached to the mount to ensure its compatibility with:
- Telescopic sights
- Laser sights
- Reflex sights
- Tactical lights
- Night vision devices
Remember, these are original HK claw mounts and won’t be around for too long. Purchase yours today!
Schußrichtung
Retailers will often promote HK claw mounts as being manufactured by “Schußrichtung,” which is not exactly accurately. Actually Schußrichtung is German for “feed direction.” If you’ll notice, the underside of an original HK claw mount has this marking along with an arrow pointing to the right – signifying that that is the end intended to point towards the muzzle. Though not a brand name, it is a suitable method of identifying an original HK claw mount.
