The Hornady Manufacturing Company is an American company that specializes in the production of ammunition and reloading components. Founded in 1949 by Joyce Hornady, the Nebraska-based company is renowned for its high-quality hunting, target and self-defense ammunition as well as its reloading equipment and supplies. "Ten bullets through one hole" was the philosophy of Mr. Hornady. It is one that highlights the company's dedication to the production of high-performance ammunition that is accurate and reliable.
Hornady TAP FPD .45 ACP +P ammunition is a product from the Hornady TAP FPD line. This line of ammunition is designed for tactical applications and is widely used by tactical teams and law enforcement officers due to its reputation for reliability. All TAP FPD ammunition features bullets with superior terminal ballistics ratings as well as silver nickel cases that not only reduce the risk of corrosion but improve feeding performance. Like all Hornady ammunition, the TAP FPD line is manufactured in the United States at the Hornady production plant in Grand Island, Nebraska.
As noted, each box of Hornady TAP FPD .45 +P ammunition contains 20 cartridges. Each cartridge is equipped with a 200gr hollow point bullet. Hollow points are the preferred bullet for personal protection and home defense due to their ability to expand upon impact, causing increased tissue damage. Additionally, these bullets feature a muzzle velocity that has been observed at speeds of up to 1,055 fps. That is due to the fact this is overpressure ammunition. I will have more on that later.
There is no reason to go with any other ammunition but the best. As such, picking up a few boxes of Hornady TAP FPD .45 ACP +P ammunition is probably a good idea. After all, it is only $17.76 per box. Consider this ammunition for:
- Personal protection
- Home defense
- Law enforcement
- Much more…
Overpressure ammunition, often designated as +P, is a type of ammunition that features a load that results in a higher internal pressure than is characteristic of a standard cartridge in the same caliber. It is typically found in cartridges designed specifically for personal protection and home defense due to its tendency to provide for higher muzzle velocities and increased stopping power.
