As noted, our level II police body armor utilizes American-made Kevlar® paneling manufactured by the U.S. Armor Corporation. The U.S. Armor Corporation was founded by Stephen Armellino in 1985 and has gone on to become a leader in the field of body armor and ballistic protection. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, U.S. Armor has built a reputation that is staked on three key traits: quality, comfort and value. All of these traits can be found in our level II police body armor. But before we get to the vest, what is Kevlar® and how does it work?
Kevlar® is a synthetic fiber that is known for its high-tensile strength-to-weight ratio, which makes it effectively five times as strong as steel of a comparable weight. Because of this property, it is often spun into sheets that are used in the construction of personal armor such as combat helmets, ballistic vests and more. By layering Kevlar® panels, ballistic vests are able to absorb the impact of a bullet and spread it across a large portion of the vest.
The level II police body armor offered by Keepshooting.com is surplus body armor. As noted, it was manufactured by the U.S. Armor Corporation. It was also, however, imported from South America where it was used with local law enforcement agencies. The Kevlar® paneling has exceeded its life expectancy. As such, we do not offer any warranties nor can we guarantee any level of ballistic protection for this product.
Prior to expiration, our level II police body armor fully complied with the National Institute of Justice Standard 0101.03 for performance requirements. In addition to being rated for protection against 158gr .38 Special round nose bullets fired at a velocity of 850fps and 40gr .22 LR bullets fired at a rate of 1,050fps, this vest is rated for 124gr 9mm full metal jackets traveling at a rate of 1,175fps and 158gr .357 jacketed soft points traveling at a rate of 1,359fps. Again, because these vests have exceeded their life expectancies, we offer no guarantee regarding their level of ballistic protection.
The body armor itself is a side-opening ballistic vest made up of a navy blue carrier and two Kevlar® panels. The front panel covers the chest, upper abdomen and oblique areas while the rear panel covers the back. There are also three pockets on the front of the carrier. Body armor is available in the following sizes and represents a measurement around the chest:
- Small (34-36 inches)
- Medium (38-40 inches)
- Large (43-44 inches)
- Extra-Large (46-48 inches)
- Double Extra-Large
While we cannot guarantee any level of protection, you are surely far safer with a surplus ballistic vest than you would be without one. As such, many security guards purchase these vests for peace of mind. Current body armor and ballistic vests fetch a far more expensive price. Consider picking up level II police body armor today for just $59.95.
Note: As with all expired body armor and ballistic vests, we cannot guarantee any level of protection. If you are in doubt, we recommend buying a new product with a current manufacturer's warranty.
