This hardshell holster is designed to house the Luger P08 pistol with a standard 4-inch barrel. The holster has an opening of approximately 19 cm and tapers down to roughly 4 cm, providing your pistol with a very snug fit. Upon first use, you may find it difficult to remove your pistol from the holster. Located on the side of the holster is a pull strap, which is used to dislodge the pistol. Pulling this strap will allow you to safely remove the pistol from the holster.
There are also some reproduced markings to give the holster a more authentic appearance. The back of the holster is complete with both the “P08” model stamp, as well as a manufacturer marking. It reads “E.N. Leuner GmbH, Bautzen,” to signify both the manufacturer and location, and is dated 1941. There is also a Waffenamt (German Army Weapons Agency) proof mark complete with the Reichsadler, or imperial eagle, of the Third Reich. The Waffenamt proof marks were used to signify that a product had passed inspection.
Military collectors will find that this holster is a perfect companion for the Luger P08, but it is also a great idea for:
- Reenactments
- Halloween costumes
- Theater prop and stage production
- Movie production
Luger P08
As mentioned, the Luger P08 was originally designed in 1898, seeing production begin in 1900 under Deutsche Waffen und Munitionsfabriken (German weapons and munitions), a German arms manufacturer. It is a toggle-locked, recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol, meaning its action operates using a jointed arm rather than the slide-action typical of most semi-automatic pistols.
In addition to being adopted by the German army in 1908, it was adopted in 1900 by the Swiss army as its standard issue side arm. Though it gained popularity as the official side arm of the German army in both world wars, the Walther P38 replaced it in 1938.
Today, it is one of the most iconic and sought after pistols and is noted for its unique design and uncanny accuracy.
