This gas mask is from the USSR and its allied Warsaw Pact countries. This mask was issued to
border troops and other units that needed a light weight and mobile gas mask. It uses two oval
shaped filter elements (designated EO-193) which are housed in bilateral cheek pockets, similar
to the US M17 and USSR M10 gas masks. The mask also features a speech diaphragm and an exhale valve
on the front.
This mask is considered to be uncommon among collectors, so these are one you want to buy! They
have not been produced since the 1970s, and we have only seen very few for sale on the open
market. We have been told that soldiers referred to these as the "Monkey Mask" due to the way it looks. |
