The Mossberg 930 SPX Blackwater Edition is a 12-gauge, gas-operated, semi-automatic shotgun that features an 18.5-inch barrel, a full-length synthetic stock and a pistol grip. Its 8-shot capacity and ability to chamber both 2.75- and 3-inch shotshells make the 930 SPX an ideal choice for personal protection and home defense. Not to mention, all 930 SPX shotguns include a drilled and tapped receiver for a simple installation of optics.
O.F. Mossberg & Sons, more commonly known as Mossberg, is an American arms manufacturer that was founded in 1919 by Swedish-born Oscar Frederick Mossberg alongside his two sons. Mossberg came to the United States in 1886, where he worked in a bicycle factory owned by Iver Johnson. Though the company was founded on the Mossberg Brownie, a four-barreled handgun chambered in .22 LR, it is now known the world over for producing exceptional rifles and shotguns.
As you may have gathered just a short while ago, we here at Keepshooting.com believe in the Mossberg brand. As such we have chosen to become an official Mossberg stocking dealer, which means a couple of different things. It means we have committed to stocking approximately 30 of Mossberg’s finest rifles and shotguns. Not only that, but we will have exclusive opportunities to check out new products as they are released. Finally, our commitment means that we will be getting these firearms at excellent prices and will, as always, pass those savings on to you. Many of those firearms are currently on sale in our web store. Today they are joined by the Mossberg 930 SPX Blackwater Edition.
The Mossberg 930 SPX Blackwater Edition, in addition to many of Mossberg's other "Special Purpose" shotguns, is marked by its practical defining features. The 930 SPX features an 18.5-inch barrel and an overall length of 39.5 inches. The barrel is, like the 500 series, interchangeable to provide for a number of different configurations for different operations. In addition to the full-length synthetic stock, which has a length of pull measuring 13 inches and is fully adjustable for both vertical and horizontal angles, the shotgun includes a pistol grip. Also present is an ambidextrous, receiver-mounted safety and a cocking indicator button that provides for a visual and tactile verification as to whether or not the shotgun is cocked. Aiming is a breeze with the inclusion of a factory-mounted MIL-STD 1913 rail that includes an XS® ghost ring rear sight alongside an AR-style white stripe front sight. And as if that were not enough, all 930 SPX shotguns include a self-regulating gas system that vents excess gas in order to aid in the reduction of recoil. As noted, the shotgun includes a 7-round magazine tube for an 8-shot capacity.
When it comes to home defense, your choice must exude power, reliability and ease-of-use. The Mossberg 930 SPX Blackwater Edition shotgun is all of that and more, which probably factored into its selection as the "Shotgun of the Year" in 2009. But home defense is not all this shotgun is good for. Consider the 930 SPX for:
- Personal protection and home defense
- Sport shooting
- Recreational shooting
- Much more…
You could not have possibly believed that I was going to neglect to mention the fact this shotgun is a Blackwater Edition shotgun could you? The Mossberg 930 SPX Blackwater Edition has the Blackwater "paw print" logo engraved on the side of the receiver.
Blackwater USA, formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide, later known as Xe Services LLC, and now known as Academy, is a PMC that was founded by Erik Prince and Al Clark in 1997. Today the company is the largest of three PMCs contracted by the United States Department of State. If the name sounds familiar, it is probably due to the significant role they have played in the Iraq War. It might also have something to do with the actions they have taken there, some of which have been the center of controversy.
