O.F. Mossberg & Sons, more commonly known as Mossberg, is an American arms manufacturer that was founded in 1919 by Swedish-born Oscar Frederick Mossberg alongside his two sons. Mossberg came to the United States in 1886, where he worked in a bicycle factory owned by Iver Johnson. Though the company was founded on the Mossberg Brownie, a four-barreled handgun chambered in .22 LR, it is now known the world over for producing exceptional rifles and shotguns.
We here at Keepshooting.com believe in the Mossberg brand. As such we have chosen to become an official Mossberg stocking dealer, which means a couple of different things. It means we have committed to stocking approximately 30 of Mossberg’s finest rifles and shotguns. Not only that, but we will have exclusive opportunities to check out new products as they are released. Finally, our commitment means that we will be getting these firearms at excellent prices and will, as always, pass those savings on to you. Many of those firearms are currently on sale in our web store – the Mossberg MMR Tactical is just the next in a long line of fine Mossberg products.
You may be familiar with Mossberg's previous AR-patterned rifle, the Mossberg Tactical .22. The Mossberg Tactical .22 represented the company's first foray into the world of the AR-patterned platform. With the Tactical .22, Mossberg was able to offer an affordable AR-15 chambered in .22 LR that is suitable for practical training at a price that will never break the bank. After the success of the Tactical .22, Mossberg decided to throw their hat into the traditional AR-15 market with the introduction of the Mossberg MMR Tactical – another affordable option regarded for its high quality and high performance.
The Mossberg MMR Tactical features a 16.25-inch barrel (1:9 inch twist) with a removable A2-style muzzle brake and a black phosphate finish. The rifle also boasts an overall length that measures approximately 32.5 inches. With the 6-position adjustable stock, the length of pull ranges from approximately 10.5 inches to 14.5 inches. The black phosphate finish, alongside the anodized aluminum receiver, serves to protect against rust and corrosion as well as give the rifle a higher resistance to wear. The rifle weighs about 7.5 pounds and is easily managed by most shooters. This particular rifle also includes a rail-mounted standard M16-style front sight as well as a dual aperture rear sight that is adjustable for both windage and elevation. Other features include a Stark® SE-1 pistol grip with battery compartment, an oversized trigger guard and a quad-rail handguard that provides near limitless options for mounting tactical lights, lasers, grips and more. As noted, the rifle is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO and includes a single 30-round detachable magazine.
The way I see it, you have three options. One is piecing together an AR-15 and putting in hours of work to get it just right. Two is purchasing an AR-15 from a leading brand and getting hit hard where it hurts – your wallet. Option three, and I consider this your best option, is to grab the Mossberg MMR Tactical, which will give you just about everything you need for a fraction of the price. Consider this rifle for:
- Law enforcement
- Target shooting
- Tactical shooting
- Much more…
The Mossberg MMR Tactical is now available for $706.45.
