INSTRUCTIONS FOR PROPER BREAK-IN AND USE OF NEW M3 GREASE GUN MAGAZINE
Thank you for purchasing this newly made M3 “Grease Gun” magazine. Your new magazine was developed from a number of different USGI M3 sample magazines. While developing the tooling for the magazine we found that various USGI magazines had different measurements in certain areas. We took the most common measurements among all samples and used them to produce a magazine that would as closely match the original as possible.
For testing and development we used a full-auto MAC-10 configured to use unmodified M3 magazines. Should your weapon be the same as our test platform, your magazine should work 100% and require little to no break-in. We do however recommend you follow these steps regardless of type of weapon:
1) Wipe excess oil from your magazine.
2) Retract the bolt of your firearm and insert an empty magazine into your gun. Ensure that the magazine you loaded is empty and then pull the trigger to release the bolt of your firearm. If the bolt of your firearm experiences any resistance, repeat until the bolt closes smoothly. This will smooth out the feed lips of your magazine. The feed lips are the area where we found the biggest deviation on the USGI magazines we used as samples. This step is the most important for break-in purposes, and once your firearm's bolt closes smoothly on an empty magazine you can move on to step 3.
3) Load 10 rounds of brass cased ammunition into your magazine, and fire them in either semi-auto or full auto. This will smooth out the inside of the upper area of your magazine body, which is the area that is most responsible for reliable feeding. After your magazine has successfully fired 10 rounds in either semi-auto or full-auto you can move on to step 4.
4) Load a full 30 rounds into your new magazine, and fire all 30 rounds in either full-auto or semi-auto. This will continue to smooth out the inside of your magazine, and will also help burn up any excessive lubricant that is inside of the magazine when it was packed by the manufacturer. You may need to use an M3 magazine loader to be able to easily load all 30 rounds, so make sure you take one to the range with you to save your fingers and thumbs.
We hope you enjoy your new magazine and that it continues to provide you with many years of reliable service. Look on the back of this instruction sheet for many new and exciting products coming from www.keepshooting.com .
