- Great shovel but heavy. Review by Manyclunkers
-
I had a snow plow in a parking lot once block my car in. It was nothing personal, the snow plow blocked all of the cars in the row I was parked in. Anyway digging out the back of the car with my bare hands stunk. Since then I have one of these that I keep in the trunk of my car during the winter. The shovel was not designed to shovel snow but it works. For a shovel mine is a little overkill made with very thick steel, which makes it heavy. If you are planning on lugging one of these around on a pack, you might want to look into on of the US tri folding shovels. However I like the German one for the winter because the blade is kind of flat, the snow does not tend stick to it. The shovel folds and unfolds using a button, which seems studier than the lock collar that most folding shovels have, certainly faster to change positions. The pick feature puts the shovel over the top. I have used it to bust up the clay around where I live, just playing around with it in the garden planting mums. In folding shovels I have the Swiss, US, and Austrian shovels as well. I like the US one when it comes to weight, however this German one is probably my favorite, it seems to be the most sturdy for just digging. (Posted on 8/2/12)Price Value Quality
