These blankets were once pieces of standard-issue equipment and were originally designed for and issued to members of the Bulgarian land forces, one of the three major service branches that make up the military of Bulgaria, officially known as the Bulgarian army.

Despite being considered military surplus, each Bulgarian army wool blanket appears to be completely unissued and unused. As such, these blankets remain in great condition and are ready to keep you warm, whether in your bed or in the wilderness.

As noted, each Bulgarian army wool blankets is unissued, meaning they are also free from the typical rips, tears and stains that often plague previously issued military surplus equipment. Still, prospective buyers should expect to wash and air out each blanket prior to use, as years of storage has not left them as fresh as possible. Those looking for a unique piece of Bulgarian military history or a warm blanket for everyday or emergency use need look no further than our new Bulgarian army wool blanket.

The Bulgarian army wool blanket is a cot-sized, charcoal blanket that measures approximately five feet long and 3 3/4 feet wide, and features a full, heavy-duty wool construction. Wool retains its warmth even when wet.

The surplus German flak jacket is a versatile piece of protective clothing and each is, as noted, an authentic German military surplus item. These flak jackets were originally designed for and used by members of the German heer, or army, which is one of the five service branches that makes up the Bundeswehr, or unified armed forces of Germany. Though each flak jacket appears to have been previously issued, they remain in good condition and ready to continue service. As they have been issued, some of the flak jackets show some minor signs of wear and tear. No matter what reason you have for purchasing the surplus German flak jacket, it is sure to please.

Now that the boring drivel is out of the way, we can have some fun. Are you ready for some instruction in German? Of course you are. Have you ever heard the word fliegerabwehrkanone? Probably not, but I’m willing to bet you’ve heard of a flak jacket. The word flak comes from the word fliegerabwehrkanone, German for “anti-aircraft gun.” The term flak jacket essentially means, “anti-aircraft gun jacket,” and was so named due to its usage by the British Royal Air Force in World War II to protect its pilots from shrapnel and other debris that was resultant from the highly explosive artillery shells fired by German anti-aircraft guns.

The surplus German flak jacket is, as noted, a flak jacket that originally saw use with the Bundeswehr. Constructed from Kevlar® paneling contained in a nylon cloth carrier, the flak jacket is designed to offer protection from shrapnel, fragmentation, debris and other indirect projectiles to the chest, back, sides and shoulders. The easy-to-wear vest features Velcro® closures that are located on the left shoulder and both hips. Additionally, there is a large, expandable front pocket and rings located on both the front and back of the jacket for carrying additional gear. Not satisfied with the level of protection offered? The surplus German flak jacket includes a zippered closure for the insertion and removal of Kevlar® paneling and other plates.

The nylon carrier, like many of our popular German military items, features the Flecktarn camouflage pattern. Flecktarn is a multicolor disruptive camouflage pattern, generally utilizing three or more colors. This particular pattern was designed for use in temperate woodland terrains, though by varying the colors, it is adaptable to other backdrops.

So what is the surplus German flak jacket good for? Well, it has been years since I was involved in any type of paintball skirmish, and though it was a great deal of fun, the feeling of being shot was less than enjoyable. Having a surplus German flak jacket surely would have made the experience more enjoyable while also helping to conceal myself in the woods.

The surplus German flak jacket is a great choice for:

- Paintball and airsoft

- Costumes

As noted, each Bulgarian M72 helmet offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic Bulgarian military surplus item. These steel helmets were once standard-issue service helmets and were originally designed for and issued to members of the Bulgarian land forces, one of the three major service branches that make up the military of Bulgaria, officially known as the Bulgarian army. Interestingly enough, these helmets were originally designed to replace the M36 helmet, an earlier German-styled helmet, but never did in any official capacity. Moreover, the design for the Bulgarian M72 helmet is nearly a direct copy of the Italian M33 combat helmet with only slight aesthetic differences.

Despite being considered military surplus items, these helmets are more so collectibles than anything else. Each Bulgarian M72 helmet is completely unissued and free from use. They were received in their original packaging, and any wear is likely due to handling or long-term storage. As such, they remain in excellent condition, ready for display, reenactment or a range of other applications.

The Bulgarian M72 helmet features an outer shell with a steel construction and a coat of olive drab paint that has remained intact throughout its long life. The original leather liner also remains intact and is mounted to the outer shell via a three rivets. Understand that this helmet, originally manufactured in the mid-20th century, does not feature the most technologically advanced materials or constructions. As such, the original eight-point leather liner is crudely adjusted by way of a cotton drawstring that provides for an adjustable fit. Similarly the leather chinstrap remains and is also fully adjustable for a number of different configurations.

Keepshooting.com is currently only able to offer the Bulgarian M72 helmet in two sizes – 56 and 58, a measure of the liner's circumference in centimeters. However, being that the liner is somewhat adjustable, the helmet should fit most heads.

The Bulgarian M72 helmet is perfect for:

- Collectors

These windproof smocks, which are parkas despite the confusing descriptor, were originally designed for and issued to members of the British army, one of the three professional uniformed service branches of Her Majesty's armed forces, otherwise known as the British armed forces. Interestingly enough, these windproof smocks were issued alongside the standard Desert DPM combat jackets, but are cut loosely to fit over layers of clothing.

Though we are unable to confirm issuance of our British Desert DPM windproof smocks, each appears to remain in excellent to like-new condition, and is still fully capable of providing prospective buyers with years of service stateside. Likewise, these windproof smocks are free from the typical rips, tears, stains and scents that often plague previously issued military surplus equipment. Those looking for a unique piece of British military history or a windproof parka to protect against harsh outdoor elements will surely be pleased with the quality of our British Desert DPM windproof smocks.

Despite its somewhat confusing descriptor, the British Desert DPM windproof smock is a lightweight, windproof parka constructed from windproof fabric. The smock is secured via a full-length front zipper with a Velcro® storm flap. It also features a cinch-cord waist to prevent updrafts as well as an integral, form-fitting hood. The form-fitting properties characteristic of the hood stem from its utilization of both a drawstring and a wire frame that ensure protection from all undesirable elements. Other features includes two large chest pockets alongside two slash chest pockets, two large waist pockets, a small accessory pocket on the left sleeve and patches with various insignias. There are a variety of sizes available, and no preference will be given with respect to available insignias.

It is worth noting that the British Desert DPM windproof smock employs the familiar British Desert DPM camouflage pattern throughout, a two-color camouflage pattern characterized by a mixture of light sand and medium brown and its use in dry, arid regions.

One final interesting aspect regarding the British Desert DPM windproof smock is the fact that the NATO Stock Number (NSN) is printed on the manufacturer tag. An NSN is a 13-digit numerical code that identifies all standardized materials of supply that are recognized by NATO countries. The NSN for the British Desert DPM windproof smock is 8415-99-665-6291, which identifies it as a Desert DPM windproof combat smock. The "8415" identifies it as a piece of individual equipment while the "99" signifies that the piece is from the United Kingdom. The remaining digits signify its item number.

Grab your British Desert DPM windproof smock today for just $39.95.

During World War I, entrenching tools began to take on their more modern design as trench warfare rose to prominence.

Today, entrenching tools are produced with much more sophisticated designs as compared to their predecessors. Many components have been modified according to technological advances, including the handles and folding design. Several have even been fitted with picks or bayonets, and are often used as weapons. Many units are even trained in combat with their entrenching tool.

As noted, each U.S. M1943 entrenching tool offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic piece of U.S. military surplus. These entrenching tools were originally designed for, issued to and used by members of the United States Armed Forces, especially those who served in the U.S. Army, the largest and oldest of the five main service branches.

Despite having seen previous issuance and use, each U.S. M1943 entrenching tool remains in what can best be described as serviceable condition, though condition will vary from tool to tool. As such, prospective buyers should expect to find signs of wear and usage, including, but not limited to: worn edges, worn finishes and dinged handles. When ordering, please remember that each shovel is a vintage World War II tool that is nearly 70 years old.

That said, each U.S. M1943 entrenching tool features a solid steel construction that is mounted on what was once a study wooden handle. When folded, the tool measures approximately 20 inches in length. When fully extended, the tool measures approximately 27 inches in length. Prospective buyers should take comfort knowing that each U.S. M1943 entrenching tool is, as noted, an authentic piece of U.S. military surplus. Each is "U.S." property marked and dated, with most bearing a date of "1944." Additionally, each features an "AMES" manufacturer stamp.

It is not often you come across authentic U.S. military surplus from WWII. Now is the time to take advantage of this offering. Grab your U.S. M1943 entrenching tool today for only $29.95.

As noted, all flashlights are brand new, unissued Swedish military surplus. They even come in their original packaging. As such, you need not worry about faulty wiring, blown circuits, water damage or any other malfunctions that could keep you from enjoying the product.

Formally, known as the ficklampa 3, or "torch 3," the Swedish military flashlight is a standard issue piece of equipment for the Swedish army. It is housed within a plastic case that measures approximately 4.25 inches, by 2.5 inches by 1.5 inches. It is powered by two standard C cell batteries and includes a spare bulb within the case.

Upon receiving your flashlight, you are likely to notice the presence of three slide levers located on the front of the case. These levers are attached to two lenses and a shade, each of which is capable of manipulating the light emitted from the bulb. There is one red lens, one green lens and one blackout shade. The blackout shade is designed to obscure the light emitted from the bulb. Additionally, there is a leather strap affixed to the rear of the case that measures approximately 1.5 inches wide. Aside from providing a belt loop, this leather strap also features a button loop at each end that makes attaching the flashlight to a jacket very simple.

The most interesting feature found on the Swedish military flashlight, however, is the on-off switch. I know that sounds odd, but hear me out. The on-off switch on the Swedish military flashlight is not just a fully-on, fully-off switch, though it does provide that function. It also serves as a push button on-off switch, meaning that it can be used as a signaling device. By turning the switch a half turn, you are able to send out a series of pulsing lights in Morse code.

Lost in the woods? Good thing you have got your Swedish military flashlight handy. Send out a distress call and wait for help. Just pray that the bears have yet to pick up on Morse code. This flashlight is great for:

- Hunters

- Hikers

- Survival kits

- Collections

- Much more…

Grab yours today for the low price of $6.95.

Three Crowns

You are likely to notice the "Three Crown" emblem on the rear of the case. The Three Crowns are a Swedish national emblem that can be found on any range of Swedish entities, from the Coat of Arms to the sweaters of the national men's ice hockey team. Where else have you seen the emblem? It is a prominent feature of the Mossberg logo.

As the French armed forces was the largest employer of the MAT-49 submachine gun, the French MAT-49 magazine pouch was originally designed for and would have been issued to members of the armée de terre, otherwise known as the French army. It was also likely issued to the National Gendarmerie, a branch of the French armed forces tasked with public safety, and a known user of the MAT-49.

The issuance of each French MAT-49 magazine pouch cannot be confirmed, though each remains in like-new condition and appears to have never seen issuance at all. As such, they remain in excellent condition and are far from the end of their service lives.

You will be pleased to hear that each pouch is free from the typical rips, tears, stains and scents that are characteristic of previously issued military surplus equipment. Those looking for a magazine pouch suitable for carrying up to five submachine gun magazines – both those designed for use with the MAT-49 or otherwise – or a unique piece of French military surplus are sure to find the French MAT-49 magazine pouch an excellent option.

The French MAT-49 magazine pouch features a construction made almost entirely of a durable canvas material, save the few metal rivets and snap fasteners. Rounding out the tough construction is a series of military-grade stitching that holds the pouch together at the seams. Coloring is almost a sort of olive grey, which is a welcomed change from traditional olive drab. As for the pouch itself, these five-celled pouches are designed to hold up to five MAT-49 magazines, which are available in capacities of 20, 32 and 35 rounds. Each magazine fits into its own cell, which measures approximately 10 inches by 1 1/2 inches by 1 1/4 inches. Interesting is the fact that this pouch is also capable of accommodating .45-caliber submachine gun magazines, including our M3 Grease Gun magazine. Additional features include a flap closure with two snap fasteners, dual belt loops and a removable shoulder strap.

Grab your French MAT-49 magazine pouch today for only $10.95.

Polish MC-1 Gas Mask

As noted, each Polish MC-1 gas mask offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic piece of Polish military surplus equipment. These gas masks were once standard-issue masks that were originally designed for and used by members of the Polish land forces, which is one of the four service branches that make up the Siły Zbrojne Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej, or the armed forced of the Republic of Poland. Interestingly enough, the design for these masks is very similar to several other surplus masks, including the Bulgarian MC-1 mask and the Czech CM-3 mask. Today, these masks are widely available and are sought after by collectors due to their unique style, which includes circular glass eyepieces and a speech diaphragm.

Though these gas masks were originally designed to provide protection from radioactive fallout in the mid-20th century, they were also deemed appropriate for limited protection from nuclear, biological and chemical agents. As they were not initially manufactured for NBC protection, we cannot guarantee any real-life protection and do not recommend them for use as such. This recommendation is also partially due to the fact that they are surplus masks. And though many appear to remain in great condition, each carries storage wear that prevents them from appearing in top-notch condition. Nevertheless, the Polish MC-1 gas mask makes an excellent collector's item and is sure to delight history buffs the world over.

The complete set, which consists of one surplus Polish MC-1 gas mask, one standard NATO 40 mm gas mask filter and a gas mask bag, begins with the mask itself. The form-fitting gas mask is constructed from latex rubber and features the aforementioned set of circular eyepieces, each of which is crafted from glass. At the front of the mask, you will find a plastic speech diaphragm/filter coupling, which allows the filter to be screwed into the mask. For fitting purposes, each mask includes a six-point elastic harness that allows the mask to be form a tight seal around the face of the user Also included are the aforementioned unissued filter and the original canvas bag designed to carry the set.

Alright, let's be honest with each other. I cannot recommend this mask for any actual protection from any hypothetical apocalypse that may or may not be coming. But the Polish MC-1 gas mask is still a great idea for:

- Collectors

- Display

- Reenactments

- Costumes

- Much more…

The Polish MC-1 gas mask is now available for only $14.95.
