The SIG Sauer Mosquito Tactical is manufactured by SIG Sauer, Inc. in Exeter, New Hampshire. SIG Sauer, Inc. was originally established in 1985 as an American branch of SIG Sauer GmbH, the German arms manufacturer based in Eckernförde, Germany. SIG Sauer, Inc. began as Sigarms Inc. and was originally based in Tysons Corner, Virginia. The company was created for the American importation of German-produced SIG Sauer firearms. In 1990, the company moved its headquarters to Exeter, New Hampshire to accommodate the new manufacture of certain SIG Sauer models in addition to continued importation. It was not until 2007 that the company changed its name to the current incarnation. Today, the company is one of the fastest growing arms manufacturers in the United States. Offering a wide range of products to a wide range of markets including the military, law enforcement and civilians, the company prides itself on their high-quality, reliability and unrivaled performance – qualities that can all be found in the Mosquito Tactical.
Yes, all of the aforementioned qualities are present and accounted for in the SIG Sauer Mosquito Tactical. The most noticeable aspect is its similarity to the SIG Sauer P226. By channeling the design of the P226, the Mosquito Tactical gives you ergonomics that provide for hours of comfortable shooting. All fire controls found on the P226 are replicated on the Mosquito Tactical, including a rotating takedown lever, a decocker, a slide release and a reversible magazine catch button. Additionally, the Mosquito Tactical utilizes an ambidextrous manual thumb safety, which is joined by a magazine safety, a drop safety and an integral safety lock that prevents cycling of the slide, hammer fall and trigger pull. Of course, the real draw for the Mosquito Tactical has yet to be discussed.
All sorts of firearms feature accessory rails that allow the attachment of lights, lasers, optics and other tactical equipment. The Mosquito Tactical is no different. What is special about this particular model is the inclusion of a threaded barrel, which facilitates the use of suppressors. Pretty cool if you ask me.
The SIG Sauer Mosquito Tactical features a threaded 4.9-inch barrel and an overall length of 8.3 inches. The blued aluminum alloy slide combines with a wear-resistant polymer frame to give the pistol a weight of just 27.8 ounces. The double-action/single-action trigger mechanism gives the pistol acceptable trigger pulls of approximately 12.4 pounds with double-action and 4.4 pounds with single-action. There is also an adjustable three-dot iron sight system. As noted, the pistol is chambered in .22 LR and comes with a single 10-round magazine.
Sure, mosquitoes carry a bad reputation; but the SIG Sauer Mosquito Tactical seeks to clear its name and rise above. So far, it appears to be on the right path. See for yourself for only $349.60. Consider the Mosquito Tactical for:
