With exclusive licensing from Israel Weapon Industries, the Umarex Uzi .22 LR pistol features a scaled-down design that offers an inexpensive alternative to costly centerfire Uzis. Each of these semi-automatic pistols is, as suggested by its title, chambered for the low-cost .22 LR cartridge and utilizes a simple blowback operation. Additionally, each pistol ships with a single 20-round magazine.
Since its debut in 2006, Umarex USA has been a premium provider of sporting and replica air pistols and rifles. Their world-class products represent a big chunk of several niche communities that range from air guns and airsoft to paintball and tactical accessories. Recently, the company even branched out into tactical rimfire rifles and pistols. Today, you have the opportunity to check out the new Umarex Uzi .22 LR pistol for yourself.
Manufactured by Umarex USA and exclusively licensed by Israel Weapon Industries, the Umarex Uzi .22 LR pistol is one of Umarex USA's many officially licensed tactical rimfire firearms, a line that kicked off in 2009 with Colt M4s and M16s made in Germany by Walther. Today, the line encompasses a range of firearms licensed by renowned arms manufacturers that include Colt, Heckler & Koch, Israel Weapon Industries and Regent Arms.
The Uzi is an open bolt, blowback-operated submachine gun named for its designer, Uziel Gal. Originally designed in the late 1940s, the Uzi was officially adopted in 1951 and introduced to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in 1954. Its ingenious design, which housed the magazine in the pistol grip, is made possible by the inventive telescoping bolt and allows for a much shorter firearm, making it perfect for use as a personal defense weapon.
Unlike the submachine gun after which it is patterned, the Umarex Uzi .22 LR pistol does not have select-fire capabilities and is in no way designed for use as a personal defense weapon. Instead, this inexpensive alternative is an excellent choice for training, tactical shooting, plinking and all other forms of recreational shooting.
The Umarex Uzi .22 LR pistol features a five-inch barrel (1:13 3/4 inch twist) with a threaded muzzle (M8x75mm) alongside an overall length of 9 1/2 inches – significantly smaller than the Uzi, the Mini Uzi and the Micro Uzi. But the dimensions are not the only thing that has been reduced. The weight of the pistol is also significantly less than the real thing. The alloy receiver joins an authentic grip-safety trigger pack to give the pistol a light weight of just 3.8 pounds, which when combined with the low recoil of the .22 LR cartridge, provides for a pistol that is easily handled by shooters of all sizes and skill levels. Other features include an elevation-adjustable front sight, a windage-adjustable rear sight and a small Picatinny rail on the underside of the receiver suitable for lights, lasers and other tactical equipment.
Those looking for inexpensive fun are sure to find the Umarex Uzi .22 LR pistol an excellent option. Consider this pistol for:
