The Windham Weaponry MPC is one of the nation's newest rifles built on the AR-15 platform. Manufactured by a recent start-up composed of former Bushmaster Firearms employees, this semi-automatic rifle is chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO and .223 Remington cartridges and utilizes a direct impingement operation system alongside a rotating bolt. In addition to the now commonplace six-position telescoping stock and M4 dual heat shield handguard, the Windham Weaponry MPC features a removable carry handle that offers access to a receiver-length MIL-STD 1913 rail. Additionally, each Windham Weaponry MPC ships in a hard plastic rifle case and includes a single 30-round magazine, a black web sling and one of the industry's most comprehensive safety manuals.
The old Bushmaster Firearms crew is back, and they have founded a company all their own – Windham Weaponry, Inc.
Based in Windham, Maine, Windham Weaponry, Inc. is, as the company states, "America's newest rifle manufacturer with decades of experience". Those decades of experience stem from a knowledgeable staff composed entirely of former Bushmaster Firearms employees. Helmed by former chairman and principal owner of Bushmaster Firearms, Richard E. Dyke, Windham Weaponry, Inc. rose from the ashes of Bushmaster's Windham operations facility, where manufacturing was shut down in March 2011. But by gathering a team of highly qualified gunsmiths and builders who are backed by courteous customer service and sales representatives, and pairing them with a team of industry-leading quality control, purchasing and marketing specialists, Windham Weaponry, Inc. was able to forge a company that is proud to continue production of America's rifle.
With the singular goal of producing the finest AR-15 platform in the nation, Windham Weaponry, Inc. proudly manufactures each of their rifles using premium 4150 chrome-moly vanadium steel barrels, each of which is chrome lined to provide for enhanced resistance to wear and simple maintenance. These barrels join 7075 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum receivers that feature a durable black hard coat anodized finish. Each rifle is then furnished, unless otherwise noted, with aluminum trigger guards, M4 dual heat shield handguards and a variety of other parts and techniques developed to enhance accuracy, durability and owner satisfaction.
The Windham Weaponry MPC features a 16-inch barrel alongside an overall length of 32 1/2 inches, which can be increased by four inches via the telescoping stock. Both the 4150 chrome-moly vanadium steel barrel (1:9 inch twist rate) and the chamber feature a hard chrome lining, which serves to protect both components from rust and corrosion as well as give them higher resistance to wear and an extended service life. Also included is the aforementioned synthetic six-position telescoping stock. When combined with the light weight of the 7075 T6 aircraft-grade aluminum upper and lower receivers, you get a rifle that weighs in at just 6.85 pounds. Additionally, each rifle boasts a M4 dual heat shield handguard. Other features include an M4-style front sight alongside a removable carry handle that, when removed, offers access to an optics-ready flattop receiver. As noted, the Windham Weaponry MPC is chambered for the 5.56x45mm NATO and .223 Remington cartridges and includes a single 30-round magazine.
