The 550 Paracord 100ft - Gold by Rothco is an essential component of any go-bag. What each bundle of 100ft gives you is genuine Made in the USA military 550 paracord, which is composed of 7 inner stands making this portentially 8 different lines.
There's many different type of thread/cord out there. I've tried a bunch, and the quality is all over the place. My last test is whether or not it gets a burnt/melted smell from an electrical arc with some dry grass. Some threads can take some heating and not burn or show any indication of smoke. Others can't even withstand a low heat electrical arc before melting. With the arc and no visible burn on the thread. The military has tested it to over 100 lbs, not just for it's strength but it's durability as well. If it can't hold up to the test, I'm not interested. For 5.50/100ft for such a sturdy thread, you can't beat Rothco. This stuff will make survival cordage obsolete. I have over 15 miles of line that can pull a pine trailer, while towing my trailer (fuel line from a 10 gal fuel container) with a go kart towing my RV, and still pull enough for a boat. It has many uses, I use paracord instead of tow chains and recovery strap/hardware. The only dislike is some colors are 100ft, some are 50, I'd like them all to be 100. I bought the dark green color and 100ft, so I had extra to test the smoke/burnt smell, after using it a bit, I can tell that even with electrical burns, if it gets a slight darker color or smoke in a splice, don't worry, it will never ever ever have a chance of melting and breaking on you.

Used this cord to hang a string of holiday lights from an inside beam, and the bottom color was great for getting them down in the morning.

It has some stretch to it which is great when tying things to trees, fences, etc

A couple more uses for this cord would be a quick tourniquet or belt if needed, for wrapping around limbs to contain animal, etc. This seems like a good purchase for those of us who are going out in the back woods and want something to make traps or other shenanigans to use while they last!
