Each British Desert DPM windproof smock offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic piece of British military surplus. These windproof smocks, which are parkas despite the confusing descriptor, were originally designed for and issued to members of the British army, one of the three professional uniformed service branches of Her Majesty's armed forces, otherwise known as the British armed forces. Interestingly enough, these windproof smocks were issued alongside the standard Desert DPM combat jackets, but are cut loosely to fit over layers of clothing.
Despite its somewhat confusing descriptor, the British Desert DPM windproof smock is a lightweight, windproof parka constructed from windproof fabric. The smock is secured via a full-length front zipper with a Velcro® storm flap. It also features a cinch-cord waist to prevent updrafts as well as an integral, form-fitting hood. The form-fitting properties characteristic of the hood stem from its utilization of both a drawstring and a wire frame that ensure protection from all undesirable elements. Other features includes two large chest pockets alongside two slash chest pockets, two large waist pockets, a small accessory pocket on the left sleeve and patches with various insignias. There are a variety of sizes available, and no preference will be given with respect to available insignias.
It is worth noting that the British Desert DPM windproof smock employs the familiar British Desert DPM camouflage pattern throughout, a two-color camouflage pattern characterized by a mixture of light sand and medium brown and its use in dry, arid regions.. The "8415" identifies it as a piece of individual equipment while the "99" signifies that the piece is from the United Kingdom. The remaining digits signify its item number.

Match to Description & Expectations: The British DPM Windproof Smock EXCEEDED the quality, condition and specifications listed for the product on the website. My expectations in terms of condition, fit and overall satisfaction were greatly exceeded. Specifically, the item I received is in brand-new, un-issued condition. The cut make and trim are all good quality. The size Medium ( 5'6"+) size fits me well ( I am 5'9", 165 LBS). One bonus are the patches: RAF patch above the right chest pocket, along with Union Jack on the upper left sleeve and two other patches as well. The inside label states: MADE IN THE UK.
Shipping: Shipping was FASTER than promised. The order arrived 2 days earlier than scheduled.
This jacket is great except the zipper is put on backwards from the usual way which makes it very awkward to use and is, I suppose, why they have it on the market at such a good price.
Well worth the price. I've bought many products from here and this is one of the best values. Similar would cost at least triple for something similar at REI or Cabela's..
I'm 5.9"tall and 157#s with a 39 1/2" chest and the 41" chest for my height fits perfectly. I could wear a poncho over it if it's raining and it's roomy enough to layer easily in colder weather. The camo pattern should work great for many situations where you have dry grass or desert terrain. Pockets are large enough to carry more items than I should but it's nice to have the room. Excellent quality zipper and Velcro closures for the wrists.
Had to order desert dpm smock for my collection. Slightly used , great condition smock. Have green DPM wind proof as well, these have generous room in shoulders for ease of movement, big pockets stowable hood collar, just be sure of size when ordering- gonna order next chest size up to allow better under insulate roominess. Good price & features to last in the field
Would have thought it was brand new except it didn't have the new stiffness and had a name written in.
Jacket arrived clean, no damage, excellent fabric, many pockets, and with fast shipping from KeepShooting.
This is my second smock. They are listed as used, but mine seem to be in new condition. These run large to allow for layering as weather conditions dictate. I've used mine in the winter in a cold mountain environment. The jackets really do block the wind which allows for the insulation to keep me warm. I found the jackets to be generous in cut, which allows for unrestricted movement. I absolutely love these smocks, and I think the look very cool as well.
This is a great, well designed, and made jacket!! Best of all, the one I received still had the tags on it; indicating it was brand new and never worn. The jacket is built like a tank and will take lots of punishing treatment. It does run big and is meant to be worn over layers. Being a Soldier, I wish the U.S. Army had a similar type smock or jacket; oh well. You will not be disappointed with this jacket! And, it shipped very fast!
I was very pleased that this item (180/112) fit me so well, stocky @ 5'10' 225#. Appeared unissued but got a bonus when I found an SA80 combination tool in one of the pockets!
The hood on this parka is awesome, not only does it aide in camouflage when hunting, it also keeps the wind out with its wire lined snorkel style hood. The high thread count cotton/polyester fabric is great at what it is was designed for and is extremely durable. There are so many pockets on this parka that you will likely not run out of room to store items important items when hunting or hiking.
Good quality. Great condition. My smock was missing the wire brim in the hood. I recommend this jacket to anybody that spends a lot of time out in the bush.
I received my windproof smock today and wow cant be more happy . It was slightly used with a few grease marks but had some rank badges on it . These are a awesome patterns for the California desert and just the right thickness for camping out side in the cool summer nights . These are awesome for the price and will order more
British surplus kit...it's high quality and typically a lot cheaper than its U.S. counterpart. The jacket I received looked perfect except for a small spot of storage grease on the shoulder. I'm a huge fan of the British pocket button closures on their smocks and trousers: big and beefy enough to undo with a gloved hand and attached with a strong piece of cloth (not thread) to make them super strong. As with all British outerwear, these smocks are roomy...do not upsize! Many thanks to Keepshooting for sorting these by actual NATO sizes, generic S/M/L sizes don't cut if with me.
I got my new/used Smock today and it's great. Mine has RAMC on the tag and that means Royal Army Medical Corp. My Smock was owed by a medic before me that is cool to me and it came with some Velcro on the arms. But no patches but I am okay with that. All and all great price and great Smock. Went buy more from keepshooting.com in the future.
