Each pair of British Desert DPM windproof trousers offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic piece of British military surplus. These windproof trousers were originally designed for and issued to members of the British army, one of the three professional uniformed service branches of Her Majesty's armed forces, otherwise known as the British armed forces. Interestingly enough, these windproof trousers would have been issued alongside the British Desert DPM windproof smocks, also available here at Keepshooting.com.
Though we are unable to confirm issuance of our British Desert DPM windproof trousers, each pair appears to remain in excellent to like-new condition, and is still fully capable of providing prospective buyers with years of service stateside. Likewise, these windproof trousers are free from the typical rips, tears, stains and scents that often plague previously issued military surplus clothing. Those looking for a unique piece of British military history or a secondary layer to protect against harsh outdoor elements will find the British Desert DPM windproof trousers an excellent buy.
The British Desert DPM windproof trousers are a pair of lightweight, windproof pants constructed from windproof fabric. Like traditional trousers, these windproof trousers are secured in the front via a zipper/button combination, and also feature a series of belt loops. Outside of the materials used in their construction, these trousers are pretty standard fare, and include two storage pockets with Velcro® closure alongside two cargo pockets with button-flap closure. Other features include both Velcro® and cinch cords at the ankle to lock out updrafts.
It is worth noting that the British Desert DPM windproof trousers employ the familiar British Desert DPM camouflage pattern throughout. The British Desert DPM camouflage pattern is a two-color camouflage pattern characterized by a mixture of light sand and medium brown and is often used in dry, arid regions.
One final interesting aspect regarding the British Desert DPM windproof trousers is the fact that the NATO Stock Number (NSN) is printed on the manufacturer tag. An NSN is a 13-digit numerical code that identifies all standardized materials of supply that are recognized by NATO countries. The NSN for the British Desert DPM windproof trousers is 8415-99-811-1629, which identifies the item as a pair of Desert DPM windproof combat trousers. The "8415" identifies it as a piece of special purpose clothing, while the "99" signifies that the piece is from the United Kingdom. The remaining digits signify its item number.
Note: There are a variety of sizes available, all presented according to European standards. Numbers listed refer to inseam, waist and seat, respectively. For a helpful size conversion tool, please visit this link.
Great value trousers. Love the velcro at the angle.
Got these several months ago. These pants are hard to find in a fittable size.. Since I use these as overpants the waste is OK. The legs were way too long ,so I just cut to fit. EASY. A little hemming and I can use the leg drawcords. There is all that Velcro to use for waste adjustments., too. A sailors palm makes everything easy.
Same pattern as desert trouser, but heavy duty cotton poly blend to stand up to elements. New condition so happy to get for my collection, priced to move and had to get a pair , if you know your metric size, hope to see more sizes available. These will fit up to 38 waist as currently stocked.
I use these as hiking pants in cold weather. As mentioned by other reviewers, these are made out of a densely woven fabric with a high thread count cotton/polyester mix. Therefore they block the wind, yet they are more breathable than most all-synthetic wind-blocker fabrics out there. Sizing is spot on and the pair that I received is in brand new condition. These are an exceptional value as high thread count fabrics like these are made out of are quite pricey - it is the same material that is used in the British SAS style windproof parkas that have been used for years.
These pants are great for the price and blend well in the california desert. Ordered 2 , one was perfect, the other tho had a razor blade cut fully across the wallet pocket
These are made of a thick slightly plasticky fabric that stops wind very well. They also don't breathe worth a damn, and your legs get sweaty quickly when you wear them. Good for desert nights during the winter, but if you are looking for pants for hiking or to complete your desert bug-out gear, look to the "British Desert DPM Tropical Pants" also for sale from keepshooting.com. They are cheaper and match the fabric of the british DPM rig better.
These are good quality pants made with a lightweight but densely woven fabric. I appreciate that Keep Shooting lists the full measurements, including inseam, seat, and waist. Few other web retailers bother, instead sending us capris floodwater specials.
