British WWII Era Gas Mask Set

95 4 100 0

Quick Overview

The British WWII Era Gas Mask Set is an authentic gas mask and carry bag that were produced during World War II. These gas masks were a real modernization of the previous British gas masks, as these were the first gas masks that did not require a hose attached filter. After the end of World War II, these gas masks were given to the Royal Danish Civil Guard, who continued to use them up until the 1970s.

Details

The British WWII Era Gas Mask Set consists of the gas mask, a used filter, and original olive drab green carry bag. Officially these gas masks were designated as Light Anti Gas Respirator Mk.1 and were issued to soldiers actively fighting against the Axis in Europe and the Pacific. This style of gas mask represented a turning point for gas mask design, as it began the trend of using mask attached filters rather than hose attached.

These gas masks are all dated from production during World War II, with most dated 1944. After the end of the war, the British Foreign Office donated thousands of these gas masks to the Royal Danish Civil Guard, who designated them the M44/E Gas Mask. The Civil Guard continued to use these gas masks up until the 1970s, with the only modification being the use of a 60-to-40mm adapter to allow usage of more common NATO standard gas mask filters.

Features:
  • Authentic British WWII Gas Mask
  • Mask and Bag WWII Production
  • Uses 60MM Filters
  • Some Masks Have 60-to-40mm Adapter Installed

I bought this more for display than actual use, and boy, am I glad I did. It's one of the coolest looking things I own for an amazing price.

I've been collecting gas masks for a few years now, and had my eye on getting ones of these for a while on eBay, but didn't want to to fork over the $40 or $50 dollars these masks were going for on there. I'm really glad I found them at Keepshooting - not only was it cheaper, but it came with two filters and the carrying bag!

Let's be honest - if you're ordering this gas mask, you don't intend to us it to protect yourself. You're ordering it for the history, and this mask has that in spades!

This WW2 Vintage Gas mask is pretty cool.

Came with the mask, two filters, and a carrying bag. All have Danish Crowns I believe, indicating post war use by the Danish Armed Forces. Still British built and used originally, it only goes to show that these were proven designs. It all “works”, but as to the actual level of chemical protection this WW2 era gas mask offers… I don't know. Probably good for tear gas or something, but nothing nasty. Cheaper at Keepshooting.com than anywhere else. Will probably buy more. Nice that it comes with two filters and a bag to carry it all in.
