The British WWII Era Gas Mask Set consists of the gas mask, a used filter, and original olive drab green carry bag. Officially these gas masks were designated as Light Anti Gas Respirator Mk.1 and were issued to soldiers actively fighting against the Axis in Europe and the Pacific. This style of gas mask represented a turning point for gas mask design, as it began the trend of using mask attached filters rather than hose attached. These gas masks are all dated from production during World War II, with most dated 1944. After the end of the war, the British Foreign Office donated thousands of these gas masks to the Royal Danish Civil Guard, who designated them the M44/E Gas Mask. The Civil Guard continued to use these gas masks up until the 1970s, with the only modification being the use of a 60-to-40mm adapter to allow usage of more common NATO standard gas mask filters.
