The Cold Steel Axe Gang Hatchet is one of the finest battle hatchets produced by Cold Steel. With the staff and management of Cold Steel being active in martial arts and the film industry, they took special care to make this Chinese Gang Hatchet as functional as it is visually appealing. There are many Cold Steel innovative aspects of this hatchet including the differentially heat treated drop-forged head - which has a hard edge capable of reaching razor sharpness, but a soft steel body for absorbing impacts. The handle is made from hand picked straight grain American Hickory and is embellished with the Kanji characters for "Axe Gang" to give the axe added appeal.

Fun, but flimsy

I've ordered this and so has a fried. they were fun for the three hours we used them, but the handles both snapped. The head is tempered well, and it came with a decent edge. And the head was seated relatively well too. I've gotten far worse axes for more.

Handle is made of low density wood like pine, threw axe twice during competition and handle broke out. Wouldn't reccomend unless you wanna drill out handle and replace.

I got this for my first throwing axe and it has been great. It came sharp and sticks amazing. Other axes I have purchased are not sharp enough or too wide at the point to stick into a target, but this axe is great for throwing.

Great axe but zero saftey in packaging

The axe itself was great, but the packaging was awful. One axe did not have a cover on it and both axes were thrown in a large box with no safety put in place. The box had a big hole in it from the axe and they are lucky no one got hurt .

So tested it out today. Made short work of a couple of saplings I had been intending to get rid of. Has a good utility edge, not shaving sharp by any means and the edge is a bit rough, but it chops well enough. Didn't seem take any dulling from the chopping so it should hold up for my intentions. Unlike many others I didn't get this as a throwing axe. As a Martial artist I got it as a fighting axe. The weight will take a little getting used to but that won't take much. As to t he handle,, ,it seems strong enough for my purposes although it's shape is a little awkward when compared to other axes or tomahawks. All in all though, I think after I have trained with it for a while it will make an excellent fighting axe.

Purchase two of these for a throwing party. I needed some inexpensive axes for newbies to tear up. That's exactly what I got. They appear sturdy enough for recreational use, but are not competition quality They are NOT razor sharp, or any other kind of sharp for that matter. The handle is rather long so I plan on cutting down to 15". In this case, you definitely get what you pay for.
