The Cold Steel Axe Gang Hatchet is one of the finest battle hatchets produced by Cold Steel. With the staff and management of Cold Steel being active in martial arts and the film industry, they took special care to make this Chinese Gang Hatchet as functional as it is visually appealing. There are many Cold Steel innovative aspects of this hatchet including the differentially heat treated drop-forged head - which has a hard edge capable of reaching razor sharpness, but a soft steel body for absorbing impacts. The handle is made from hand picked straight grain American Hickory and is embellished with the Kanji characters for "Axe Gang" to give the axe added appeal.

Bought this axe to throw for a competition. While the blade is thin and digs in deep, the steel is terrible and chips even hitting a soft pine target! Mine broke after the third throw. The description says " is sure to explode any target with the most violent effect." The only violent exploding that happens is when the handle shatters and I found out why. It is a very straight grain as they said but that is due to it being laminated wood, not naturally straight which leads to the handle shearing off at the head. VERY dangerous when throwing!!! If you buy one and want it to last, immediately get a blacksmith to heat treat the head properly and put it on a new handle.

Bought this for an axe throwing league. So far so good. Some might have to get used to the straight handle but the light handle and heavier head make for great rotation. So far the blade seems durable and I could see this making for a good and durable field axe.

I got this for indoor axe throwing,First off it is not designed for chopping wood.The blade profile is very thin.It came with decent edge.Sharp enough to stick in Soft Pine.A couple of Hours with a Lansky Puck it will almost shave.Cut about four inches off Handle.If you are throwing League this a great Choice.My shoulder really liked the change.I have and used a Classic Swedish Axe to throw.This is designed to throw.The cover is a little Flimsy.
