The Cold Steel Axe Gang Hatchet is one of the finest battle hatchets produced by Cold Steel. With the staff and management of Cold Steel being active in martial arts and the film industry, they took special care to make this Chinese Gang Hatchet as functional as it is visually appealing. There are many Cold Steel innovative aspects of this hatchet including the differentially heat treated drop-forged head - which has a hard edge capable of reaching razor sharpness, but a soft steel body for absorbing impacts. The handle is made from hand picked straight grain American Hickory and is embellished with the Kanji characters for "Axe Gang" to give the axe added appeal.

This thing is a great camp axe the long straight handle is superb,for hundreds of years all axes had straight handles, takes n edge well n cuts down saplings with one swing, if you break this thing you are in inexperienced and unskillful woodsman cuz it is tuff...

Well constructed and arrived sharp. I have gone out and tested the throwing of this ax and it indeed throws very well. The aesthetics do ware off. The black paint chips and the characters on the handle fade, but it is a good quality and ready to use tool.

Superb ax.
Sharpened it to a razor sharp edge so much so that it shaves hair from my hands,
I used it to split 2 deer and a bunch of sheep last year. It didn't even hiccup on bone.
Used it to chop oak kindling...no problem.
It's preformed great during my limited throwing tests but I'm not the best ax flinger.
I'm always worried about a wooden handle ax coming loose from the abuse I give them but the Gang ax has held up.
I'm going to buy a bunch more.

Overall, a good axe. Out of the box, the blade is about as sharp as a baseball bat. For the price, it's hard to complain. After some sharpening, this makes a good camp axe. Chopping and splitting comes naturally for it.
