The ESS Striker "Vehicle Ops" Tactical Goggles are designed for advanced war fighters operating in the harshest environments. With a goal to provide the best combat eye protection for vehicle based soldiers ESS has truly delivered with the Striker Series Vehicle Ops.
Eye Safety Systems (ESS), a division of Oakley Eye Wear, designed the Striker Series of tactical goggles to compete for the US Army Combat Eye Protection Solicitation. With tactical goggles being entered from every major company, the selection of the ESS Striker Series should be taken notice of. With the US Army having a virtually unlimited budget, you can be certain that the Striker was selected for performance and not just price.
I'll probably use these for chipping wood, chainsaw, etc., more than anything tactical, but they're great, fit over my prescription glasses comfortably.
These are made by Oakley. They have bombproof thick lenses that are specifically designed to be able to take s direct hit from projectiles and other shrapnel within reason. Not sure if you ever saw the Oakley glasses lense test vs shot gun, or high velocity sling shot, etc. but they are designed to take a heavy hit and save your eyes.
Incredibly well made and comfortable, not to wide like some goggles. One of my main purchase points was the ability to use regular wire glasses frames under the goggles, and they work out perfect for that.
Also, these goggles are designed not to distort your field of vision. With my experience this is big. For instance when buying the USGI dust, wind, sun protective goggles .. They distort my vision and I get a weird dizzy feeling. None of that with these goggles.
All you really need to know is that these are made by a division of Oakley that won the contract with the US government and beat out all the other competition. They are simply some of the best goggles you can find, and will hold up to heavy use for years to come. Lightweight, attractive looking, and come with an awesome exchangeable sunglass type lens.
This purchase was a no brainer, especially when you compare prices from around the net. Mine came in brand new factory condition in box with all the instructions and a goggle sleeve to pull over when not in use (or when being worn on top of your head). They are an essential piece of kit at a great price.
