The Federal Cartridge Company, headquartered in Anoka, Minnesota, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alliant Techsystems. The company was founded in 1916 and has since become one of the finest names in the ammunition industry. Today, the company manufactures a complete line of rimfire ammunition, centerfire ammunition and shotshells – they even have a production contract with the United States Military. Federal ammunition has been used during multiple Olympic Games in which the U.S. team brought home gold, silver and bronze medals. Pretty high-quality stuff if you ask me.  

Federal Premium Vital-Shok .22 WMR ammunition is a product from the Federal Premium line of ammunition. Federal Premium ammunition is marketed as a top-tier load suitable for the most demanding of situations, including military and law enforcement operations. By pairing state-of-the-art loads with revolutionary bullets, the company is able to produce a cartridge marked by outstanding accuracy, reliability and ballistics. And like all Federal ammunition, Federal Premium Vital-Shok .22 WMR ammunition is manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) in Independence, Missouri, which is an interesting aspect of the ammunition in itself. LCAAP is a government-owned, contractor-operated munitions facility that was originally established in 1941 for the manufacture and testing of small arms ammunition for the U.S. Army. Since 2001, it has been operated by Alliant Techsystems and is the largest manufacturer of small arms ammunition for the U.S. Army. 

The cartridges found in every box of Federal Premium Vital-Shok .22 WMR ammunition begin with an authentic Speer TNT® hollow point bullet. Each bullet is manufactured to strict tolerances and boasts a ballistic performance on which shooters have come to rely. As noted, each box of Federal Premium Vital-Shok .22 WMR ammunition contains 50 non-corrosive, brass-cased cartridges. Loaded with the aforementioned 30 gr Speer TNT hollow point, this cartridge was developed for explosive on-target expansion and maximal tissue damage. This particular load is capable of producing muzzle velocities that have been observed to travel at speeds of up to 2,200 fps.

All Federal Premium ammunition is manufactured using newly-manufactured, best-in-the-industry brass cases. Additionally, all cartridges are visually inspected prior to leaving the manufacturing plant.
