The Federal Cartridge Company, headquartered in Anoka, Minnesota, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Alliant Techsystems. The company was founded in 1916 and has since become one of the finest names in the ammunition industry. Like all Federal ammunition, Federal XM193J 5.56 ammunition is manufactured at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant (LCAAP) in Independence, Missouri, which is an interesting aspect of the ammunition in itself. LCAAP is a government-owned, contractor-operated munitions facility that was originally established in 1941 for the manufacture and testing of small arms ammunition for the United States Army. Since 2001, it has been operated by Alliant Techsystems and is the largest manufacturer of small arms ammunition for the U.S. Army.

As noted, each package of Federal XM193J 5.56 ammunition contains 30 non-corrosive brass-cased cartridges. Each cartridge contains a 55gr full metal jacket M193 bullet, which provides for increased muzzle velocities. This particular load boasts muzzle velocities that have been observed to travel in excess of 3,100 fps. For your convenience, all cartridges come preloaded on 10-round stripper clips, which serve to cut down on loading times. Additionally, each cartridge uses a brass case and includes a water-resistant lacquer primer sealant as well as an M41 primer with an operating range of minus 40 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit, all of which provide for enhanced performance and reliability. All cartridges are visually inspected at the plant prior to packaging.
