French Army White Wool Blanket

The French Army has utilized wool for the construction of their army blankets for hundreds of years and continues to do so currently. Wool is a superior fabric for use in blankets due to several of its natural characteristics. Providing insulation and moisture wicking means any wool blanket is going to retain heat without making you feel damp and it is more durable than other natural fibers like cotton.

There are several different types of wool, each with distinct properties that make it more or less desirable. The French Army uses wool that has more of a soft and less itchy feel to it for production of blankets.
