G3 Butt Plate

Question my manliness all you want, but firing rifles is not the most comfortable activity I have ever been a part of. Some rifles can really tear your shoulder a new one. Sure, it beats walking on hot coals but it falls just short of a nice relaxing nap. Luckily someone had the bright idea to develop the butt plate, which provides a nice surface that spreads the impact caused by recoil across your shoulder.

Description

The G3 butt plate is located on the exterior of the G3 rifle at the rear of the butt stock. The butt plate is attached to the butt stock via the stock pins and serves to provide a surface against which your shoulder can rest while firing. Additionally, it keeps unwanted debris from entering the butt stock where the buffer assembly is housed. It is an original factory part made in Germany by HK.

Spare parts are an important consideration when it comes to firearms. Like any machine, firearms rely on a series of parts to function properly, including stock parts. If a part breaks or fails, a repair or replacement is necessary.

It is also important to consider availability. At this time, Keepshooting.com has a wealth of authentic, original factory parts from HK for the G3/HK91/PTR91. Not only are they readily available, but also they are cheap. Now is the time to take advantage.

Removal of the G3 Butt Plate

For some strange reason, I am considered the G3 expert around the Keepshooting.com offices. While I make no claims to expertise, I like to offer helpful advice when I can. Throughout my research on the rifle, I have noticed many people struggling to remove the butt plate from the butt stock. Fear of damage leads to careful and failed attempts at removal. I have found that the best method for removing the butt plate is to use a vise. Prior to removal, the butt plate should be cushioned with a towel, cardboard or some other material. Once the vise is tightened around the butt plate, carefully pull the rifle away from the vise. Some twisting motions may be necessary.
