German Leather Police Jacket
Out of stock
As noted, the German leather police jacket offered by Keepshooting.com is a German surplus item. Though they are not brand new, each jacket is in excellent condition. As such, we can say with confidence that each jacket shows little wear and is free from the rips, tears, stains and scents that are typically characteristic of surplus clothing. Whether you are looking for practical protection for bike rides or a warm, stylish winter jacket, the German leather police jacket is a great choice.
The most noticeable feature on the German leather police jacket is the inclusion of the word POLIZEI, which is plastered across the shoulders. I will not insult your intelligence by translating that for you. The presence of the word signifies, as noted, its previous issuance as a field jacket to members of the Bundesgrenzschutz, which is abbreviated to BGS. The BGS was the first federal police force in West Germany after World War II and was instated to deal with incidents taking place at the border with East Germany. The BGS was renamed Bundespolizei in 2005 when the border patrol made the transition to a multi-faceted federal police force with expanded responsibilities. Of course, if none of this history is interesting to you, the letters can be removed, leaving you with only a German leather jacket.
Constructed from 100 percent authentic leather, the German leather police jacket features a full-zip front closure and a soft interior lining for easy on and off. The black leather provides a warm option for cold winter weather and in order to prevent the wearer from getting too warm, the jacket includes several underarm grommets for ventilation. Then there are the pockets. Those who love pockets are sure to love this jacket. The front of the jacket features two snap-flap pockets at the breast and two snap-flap pockets at the hip. These hip pockets also include slash hand warmer pockets. You will also find a sizeable pocket on the left sleeve, which is secured via a zipper and includes slots for pens and pencils. Making our way to the interior of the jacket, we find two pockets that can be secured via a snap fastener. Other notable features include shoulder epaulets, zippered wrists and an elastic comfort waistband.

Some of these jackets on the market have a zip in liner but the one I got did not - no biggie. Zipper zips opposite of American style but no issue. Pockets snap close and chest pockets have a keyring and there are inner pockets . I am tempted to buy another and keep it in case this one wears out in the distant future
