As noted, the German leather police jacket offered by Keepshooting.com is a German surplus item. Though they are not brand new, each jacket is in excellent condition. As such, we can say with confidence that each jacket shows little wear and is free from the rips, tears, stains and scents that are typically characteristic of surplus clothing. Whether you are looking for practical protection for bike rides or a warm, stylish winter jacket, the German leather police jacket is a great choice.
The most noticeable feature on the German leather police jacket is the inclusion of the word POLIZEI, which is plastered across the shoulders. I will not insult your intelligence by translating that for you. The presence of the word signifies, as noted, its previous issuance as a field jacket to members of the Bundesgrenzschutz, which is abbreviated to BGS. The BGS was the first federal police force in West Germany after World War II and was instated to deal with incidents taking place at the border with East Germany. The BGS was renamed Bundespolizei in 2005 when the border patrol made the transition to a multi-faceted federal police force with expanded responsibilities. Of course, if none of this history is interesting to you, the letters can be removed, leaving you with only a German leather jacket.
Constructed from 100 percent authentic leather, the German leather police jacket features a full-zip front closure and a soft interior lining for easy on and off. The black leather provides a warm option for cold winter weather and in order to prevent the wearer from getting too warm, the jacket includes several underarm grommets for ventilation. Then there are the pockets. Those who love pockets are sure to love this jacket. The front of the jacket features two snap-flap pockets at the breast and two snap-flap pockets at the hip. These hip pockets also include slash hand warmer pockets. You will also find a sizeable pocket on the left sleeve, which is secured via a zipper and includes slots for pens and pencils. Making our way to the interior of the jacket, we find two pockets that can be secured via a snap fastener. Other notable features include shoulder epaulets, zippered wrists and an elastic comfort waistband.

Great mid-weight leather jacket. Mine had a bit of shelf wear, but over all it was in great shape. Plus it has the added coolness of being Bundespolizei. Mine was a XL which fit my 6' 220 lbs frame fine.
Can't believe it was less than a hundred bucks, I'm definitely buying another one when they're back in stock.
Jacket arrived and it appeared new. Or maybe German police dont pursue or wrestle suspects? The reflective letters peeled right off and I removed the patch (wanted a plain leather jacket). Leather is a good mid weight -- not the thickest but certainly not a thin fashion leather. As for sizing this is the first piece of Euro gear that ran a bit large. I am 6' 190 lbs and an XL is a tad big. Here's the thing buyers should be aware of- if you want a tighter fit get a large but be aware there is no "action back" and the jacket may be tight. Sleeves are fine for motorcycle riding . Wearing a fleece or hoodie underneath makes this a warm jacket for 30-40 degrees and still fits good.
Some of these jackets on the market have a zip in liner but the one I got did not - no biggie. Zipper zips opposite of American style but no issue. Pockets snap close and chest pockets have a keyring and there are inner pockets . I am tempted to buy another and keep it in case this one wears out in the distant future
I will be ordering my third police jacket soon. The first one was gently broken in and in great condition. The second jacket looks brand new. A very good friend liked the first one so much I thought it would be a terrific gift for so many things he has helped me with. I like the way my original one feels like it has been with me for many years so I think I am getting the best of the two. My youngest daughter was trying to keep mine so she will be receiving the third. I made a mistake on my second order and the woman who helped make it right was as friendly as could be. Great people, great jacket and the only company I will shop for my on-line surplus. I have spent a few dollars at a few other companies and KS beats them all by a mile.
It's so difficult to find a leather jacket not made out of inferior leather and poor quality. This is not one of those jackets! Super high quality, rich leather, stitching superb. This is a steal for $100! Easily a $300 to $500 jacket. I bought two!
