The German Navy Sea Bag is an olive drab colored water resistant gear bag. In the US Army this would be referred to as a duffel bag, but the German Navy's sailors call this bag their sea bag.
Tough well used item I reckon. From KS. Live near beach so hardware perfect. No top load like US duffel bag, easier to load like your favorite sports bag… but bigger . In & out of stock, a popular choice … used but mine came intact. Thanks
I bought three of these for me and my sons to take on a 5 day trek in the Northern Tier area of Minnesota. Holds a lot of gear and fit well on the sleds we were pulling behind us. Had trouble with a zipper on one of the bags but it was still functional.
This bag is BIG! It's also very well made, but shows cosmetic wear. Stitches, zipper, and hardware are all in good shape. The fabric is a bit faded in areas, but it is still thick and strong, no holes or tears in my bag. There is still lots of useful life left in it. I tested the water resistance by splashing some water on the fabric. The water slid across the fabric in all directions; most of it immediately beaded up, but one small area pooled and seemed to try to soak into the fabric. After wiping up the water several minutes later, I found the fabric under the pooled area to be dry to the touch. I think this bag is a good value for the price and I plan to order more.
The bag is well made, and will hold a lot of gear. I ordered two of them. For the time being they will be my vehicle bug out bags
for two vehicles. The backpack straps really fill the bill should
we be out when the SHTF hits and we need our bug out bags to
get home alive!
I bought this bag because it says it's water resistant. I was using it to keep a bunch of smaller items together on a recent motorcycle trip and I strapped it behind me on the passenger seat. It worked great for that purpose but it is NOT water resistant at all. On my first day of a 7 day trip I drove through some light rain and it got soaked on the two ends that were sticking out behind me. The water soaked right in and got the contents a little wet. Luckily it was not a heavy rain and luckily it was only one day. I like the backpack style straps and the full length zipper opening. My only complaints are that mine was pretty beat up with a couple 1/2" holes in it and the lack of water resistance in the one I got. I have a USGI top load bag and would still choose this an future trips.
For under $20 you get a big, awesome quality bag! I'd put this up against any military duffle out there. The heavy, covered zipper allows easy access to the whole bag. The straps are heavy duty as are the hardware and stitching. The Germans know how to make quality products and this is no exception! I bought 5!
I just ordered two of these and got them in, but I had already collected three others from other places.
Why do I have five of these bags total? Because they are by far the most amazing duffel bags you will find anywhere. The canvas is incredibly tightly woven and thick, the side zip access is totally secure and my God is it a wonderful feature.
No more pestering with the USGI top loading duffel when you need a pair of socks at the bottom of the bag.
These are utterly ideal to store all your gear in if your a bug out guy. I have all my outdoor clothes, kit, bags, boots, stacked away in my five bags for total mobility when I take an outdoor trip or make camp more permanently.
Simply put, it's the best military duffel bag on the market. The canvas weave is absolutely top notch. Wonderful condition too.
The zipper is lockable with any regular pad-lock. There is a large flap provides additional protection. A Filson large duffle costs $358. This is a steal. Planning to use this as my checked bag during my upcoming trip to Umbria, Italy. I like my travel bags to look worn to avoid attracting thieves.
I say Duffle. Let's not call the whole thing off, since this is a great sea bag/duffle. Or you could call it a holdall too. Mine is 3 pounds, wonderfully made. It will last longer than me. Thanks, Keepshooting guys.
Great condition and I like the large size. Wanted to use for the winter months to store warm clothes and supplies in the trunk. Bag will be perfect for that use.
