Hi-Point Firearms, founded in 1992, is an American arms manufacturer that is based in Mansfield, Ohio. The company quickly made a name for itself by producing quality firearms and making them available for a low price. Today, the company produces a line pistols and carbines that are chambered in the following calibers: 380 ACP, 9x19mm Parabellum, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.
The company prides itself on what it considers its three greatest attributes: value, reliability and service. The value speaks for itself. When you buy a Hi-Point firearm, you receive a high-quality firearm at a low price. The reliability of a Hi-Point firearm is often overlooked. All Hi-Point firearms utilize a traditional blowback operation, which is simple yet reliable. Though this system of operation may provide for a heavier product, it also provides for a more reliable product due to their fixed barrels. Not to mention, all Hi-Point firearms benefit from the company's strict quality control policy that requires each pistol and carbine to be test fired for proper safety and functionality prior to shipping. Finally, there is service. All Hi-Point customers enjoy a lifetime warranty on all Hi-Point firearms that guarantees free repairs for the life of the firearm.
Finally, we come to the featured pistol for the day – the Hi-Point C-9. The C-9 is Hi-Point's compact version of their standard 9mm pistol. As noted, the C-9 is a striker-fired, semi-automatic polymer pistol that operates on a blowback system of operation not unlike that found on the famous Walther PPK. The C-9 features a 3.5-inch barrel and an overall length of 6.75 inches. Much like all blowback pistols, the barrel of the C-9 is fixed to the frame, which is constructed from high-impact polymer. This compact pistol weighs in at just 29 ounces when loaded and is easily manageable by men and women of all sizes, making it well suited for concealed carry. As noted, the pistol is chambered in 9x19mm Parabellum and comes with a single 8-round box magazine. Ten-round magazines are available from the manufacturer. Other features of the C-9 include a manual thumb safety and a 3-dot iron sight system with a fully-adjustable rear sight.
If you are on a budget, there are not many pistols that can be had for a lower price than the Hi-Point C-9. And let me tell you a secret – if you do find a cheaper pistol it is likely to blow up in your face. Consider the C-9 for:
- Target shooting
- Concealed carry
- Much more…
