Good stock and easy to install. The forend is shorter than stock, making it possible to load the magazine tube while the action is open. I gave 4/5 starts only because the stock is hollow and quite noisy, it makes sound with everything that touches it. Overall a good product, especially for only $50

Great 870 stock. Comes with buttstock bolt and all. I matched this with the Hogue Shotgun Tamer pistol grip (also recomended) to have both standard buttstock or shorty pistol grip both match the forend nicely. Fits me and the gun great.

I installed this on my Interstate Arms Hawk 982 shotgun. It is an 870 clone. The stocks material was thinner and not as robust as the factory stock I was replacing. The recoil pad is about equal to the factories. So not a huge improvement over the original stock. The forend has a much better feel to it then the factories. It is also shorter which I prefer. It no longer interferes with loading the shotgun when the pump is all the way back. Installing the forend on my hawk 982 was verry difficult. I had to remove the pump and rails from the shotgun and use a soft rubber mallet to pound the thing into position.
Overall the forend while a pain to install on my hawk 982, is a nice improvement. The stock however is slightly more comfortable but probably weaker then the original.

This is another great product from the Hogue family. But, be advised that while the forend is completely ruberized the stock is not. You cannot tell from the photos that only the grip area of the stock is ruberized and from there back to the butt pad it is a hard smooth plastic or fiberglass. I expected it to be completely ruberized like the Hogue 10/22 stock I purchased a few years ago - but it is not. At first I was a little disappointed but it made little difference in the end as I put an elastic band shell holder on the stock which covers most of it anyway. Stock installation is very easy but don't make the same mistake I made on the forend. On a new 870 the nut that holds the original forend in place is on pretty tight. Instead of buying the removal tool I turned it off with needle nose pliers. Be advised that the Remington 870 forend tube is made of some very thin steel and the threads are fine. While removing the nut I managed to bugger up the threads and even get the tube slightly out of round. It took the best part of an hour fooling around to get the nut threaded back on. If I had to do it over I would either buy the nut removal tool or take the forend assembly to someone who had one.
