Makarov Rear Sight

The Makarov rear sight, which is located on the top of the slide on the Makarov, is an unissued surplus rear sight. It is secured by being pressed into the small recess on the rear of the slide.

The Makarov rear sight is one of two iron sights found on the Makarov pistol. The rear sight is an alignment marker that is lined up with a front sight for the purposes of accurately aiming the pistol. This particular rear sight is a fixed sight and is not designed to be adjustable for windage or elevation. It can, however, be crudely adjusted to compensate for drift by being tapped to the left or right with a soft brass punch.
