Tactical security professionals, competitive shooters, and firearms enthusiasts have long known that red dot sights allow for rapid target acquisition. With the evolution of red dot sights, emphasis has been put on making them more reliable and durable for use on rifles. Tactical teams have quickly responded by adopting red dot sights that are made to withstand the demands of field use, with most armed forces using some variant of the red dot sight.
Meprolight has been producing some of the worlds finest electro-optical sights for the Israeli Defense Force for many years. The environment, climate, and operating conditions in Israel mean any electro-optical sight must be the very best as failure in the field is not an option. This experience working with the IDF has resulted in many Meprolight successes, including the Tru-Dot Red Dot Sight.
Basically the same as the M5 currently issued to the IDF. Evolution from Falcon, to MARS to this. Large FOV, insanely clear glass, takes single easy to use AA battery. Integral picatinny mount with good low profile levers. Easy to zero. Only a few brightness levels but that's good as they cover all needs, and you do not fuss with it. Set it and forget it. Auto off, which works and auto on which is impossibly sensitive so you will never bring it up and see no red dot.
Best of all: best in class dot. Even with astigmatism, clear dot. I cannot use Aimpoints anymore, or MROs, or most sights. But this is excellent.
Comes with a terrible, cheap, industrial battery. Get a quality lithium like Energizer, and use that. Should last for years.
I have used other red-dot scopes for the AR based weapons but this one is one of the best that I have used. Target acquisition is extremely fast and with use in low-light and demanding conditions of coyote hunting this is a plus with the "no-batteries" being the ultimate. Excellent quality and workmanship throughout with Israeli technology that you cannot match. Keeping Shooting ships VERY Quickly when comparing to other competitors. Enjoy your new toy...the coyotes don't.
Super heavy duty. Has taken much abuse [inadvertently]. I got mine during one of the 15% off sales. Am still using original battery.
