NATO Trangia Stove Set

The Swedish Trangia Cooking Stove is one of the most popular alcohol fueled camping stoves. We purchased a small number of original Trangia stoves, complete with the windscreen, burner, and empty alcohol fuel bottle. We've paired this excellent military issue camping stove with a brand new mess kit. You will find this makes this kit very close to the original Swedish army issued kit. Why not try a Trangia for your next overnight adventure in the woods? You'll see what all the "heat" surrounding this stove is all about.

Great Stove, Great Deal
I purchased on Black Friday and have to say this is one of the best deals I got. While the other reviews are right the mess kit isn't Swedish, but it functions okay with the Trangia windscreen.

The secret to these is to use the best alcohol fuel you can find, namely denatured alcohol. Mine was from the 1960s and a few minutes of burn with the "good stuff" cleaned it right up.

Would buy again in a second if they were available.

Trangia Stove
My homemade pop can stove works much better than the Tangia. Whatever material is stuffed inside the Trangia is now working its way out of the inside of the stove and also plugging some of the way too many (24) holes in the top of stove, thus creating a slow and oxygen deprived burn. Pop can stove blossomed and boiled equal amount of water much quicker, even after spending the night at zero degrees. Read a lot of good things about the Trangia, bought 3 and they all ranked bad.

Awesome
For the price you can't beat it. Haven't used one yet, but everything looks good. Windscreen doesn't fit, but that's an easy fix. Trangia is military issue not civilian. Only slightly larger. Bottle is too large to nest inside kit. Will be using the for a very long time.

Good value for the money but not really a "set".
This "set" represents good value for your dollar, despite the rather high shipping costs. The Trangia burner is a classic one that has proven itself over the years. It works well with the Swedish windscreen. These items are not really a "set" in that the Italian mess kit will not nest in the Swedish wind screen (for carrying) without modifying the windscreen. Also, the alcohol fuel bottle does not fit inside the mess kit as it does with the Swedish mess kit. It will have to be carried separately or you will have to use a smaller bottle. The windscreen can, however, be used with the windscreen to cook. All items appear to be new or unissued. The "kit" is on the heavy side for the weight conscious backpacker but should be fine for short outings or car camping.

Only one complaint.
Items were like new. Only problem is the mess kit does not nest into the windscreen as it should. I believe the windscreen can be modified to accept the mess kit fairly easy. Still a tremendous value! The stove and windscreen are genuine Swiss issue. The mess kit is not. Still, no regrets, considering the price.
