The Police Service of Northern Ireland is tasked with keeping people of Northern Ireland safe. These front line officers are called upon to help maintain peace and order, and were instrumental in resolving disputes during the "troubles" in Northern Ireland. Now that major confrontations and unrest has lessened, the Police Service of Northern Ireland has begun to surplus some of their most recognized gear like these green waterproof anoraks.
These police anoraks should be of interest not only to those who want a high quality waterproof jacket, but also collectors of historical memorabilia. The events in Northern Ireland defined much of the 1980s and the back-and-forth between law enforcement and the IRA were what defined the events. Looking back at photographs from this era, you see police officers wearing these anoraks responding to incidents, providing security, and making a civilian law enforcement presence known.

This is a pretty good jacket. I purchase a lot of surplus stuff. My opinion is that the french and italian stuff is the best and UK stuff just a step below. This jacket is consistent with that assessment.
Mine was used, but in really good shape. I ordered one with a liner, but it did not arrive with the jacket. W/O the liner it is somewhat lightweight, but heavier than a super lightweight consumer jacket you would buy from REI or something.
It is not clear in the picture, but this is actually a dark green. Not the most fashionable color, but this particular tint is not bad. It does not scream surplus -- which I think is good.
Overall, particularly for the price, I think this would be a good jacket. Maybe a good option to store in a car/truck for occasional inclement weather.
