Ruger LCP LaserMax Laser

The Ruger LCP Laser by LaserMax is the premier laser for the LCP. Designed from the same polymers that are used to make the LCP, once installed the LaserMax laser appears to be an extension of the LCP rather than an additional part. This clever design is one of many reasons why Ruger chose to work with LaserMax to offer their own version of the LCP with the LaserMax factory installed.

So….. i’ve had this laser for a half a year now. It is easy to carry and lights up where I place it. My biggest gripe is with the screws you used to install it. The manufactures decided not to use stainless steel screws and thus, they are rusting. I assume this is from body sweat. I would love to have given us a higher rating but that’s a pretty big flaw in my eyes. It’s the little things…

Laser Too Easily Bumped to "On"

I first purchased an Lasermax "guide rod" laser for my Glock Model 42 and love it. I often carry my Ruger LCP and thought the Lasermax for the Ruger LCP would be a certain way to improve the accuracy of the LCP, which as we know can be a challenge at any distance.

This device is different than the Glock "guide rod" laser device in that it is an external mount. It is not difficult to install. With adjustments, it provides and accurate way to capture your target. My complaint however is this:

I have found the power "on" switch is too easily bumped into the on position. I will carry my LCP in a belt loop holster covered by my shirt tail. After two days I grew tired of looking down to see the laser reflecting by my foot on the floor. I have tried a couple of holsters designed for the Ruger LCP equipped with the Lasermax without success, both without success in preventing in unwanted activation.

The two issues created is the obvious battery draw and secondly, the laser letting any observer know I was carrying. So, to my disappointment I removed the Lasermax and it will likely find it's way to eBay or Marketplace when I get around to it.

I really WANTED this Lasermax to work and am very disappointed the switch was not better designed to prevent inadvertent activation. Sorry, I cannot recommend the Lasermax for the Ruger LCP.
