These things weigh a ton! The reason is that they are built without skimping on Ruggedness. They are actually a boot within a boot. The outer very hard waterproof shell is of a moulded synthetic Material that easily laces up. The "liner boot" I call it, is actually another softer boot which is a thick insulative soft material with its own laces AND a hard sole too! What a boot! There is absolutely NO WAY a boot can be made tougher or more cold wet weather resistant. When I bought my pair the price was WAY lower than now, I see. They are slightly used, but no noticeable wear on the soles. It was a steal when I bought them at the lower price. Buying them at this price is a decision you will have to make.
Review byRen Hoek
These quite heavy boots keep my feet warm very well. Haven't tried them on a mountain yet, but are great for going up stairs! Also, if you are ever caught in a tornado they would probably allow you to stay rooted on the ground. I could lean backwards at a good angle and not fall over! Pro tip. Get a size larger than you normally take. I did and these fit perfectly. Can't wait to try them in the ice and snow. Awesome!
Scarpa Inverno for $30.00 A Great Deal
Scarpa makes quality boots. These boots have retailed for $400.00. Having said that these are special purpose boots. They are heavy (5 lbs+), it takes some practice walking in them if you don't wear heavy boots. Size up at least 1/2 size because of the inner boot. Check to see if you wear crampons if you need a longer crampon because a size 12 is 13 1/2 inches long in the bottom sole.
For me they're kind of overkill. I live in Virginia but we did get 11" of snow the other day. I walked for a couple of hours making sure to walk in snow banks and snow drifts. My feet stayed warm in 30°.
Buy a pair but try to size-up a half size.
Excellent item. Boots and insert in very good to excellent condition. Snagged them off the black Friday list for a fantastic savings!!!
Great pair of boots
The pair I got looks brand new, still have manufacturer's sticker on the bottom. Has size wrote on boot with whiteout or white paint but comes off.
