Description

The Scottish Prison Guard Wool Sweater is similar is design to the NATO Commando Sweater which is the basis for the sweater. As this sweater is meant for guards in the HM Prisons in Scotland they are further refined for use in the civilian world. This refined features would be the double thick ribbing of the knit which provides greater comfort and protection for officers working in the cold while on duty at their prisons. The V-Neck design also allows for wearing of protective vests underneath the sweater, which is essential for staff guarding some of Scotland's most dangerous prisoners.

Ordered XL after reading other comments about this sweater being small in size. Still fit tight and sleeves were a bit long but still a great sweater. Would order the xl if this one fit me. L is 5' 11",165lbs. Ordered xl for size comparison: L | US Size 29 - 31 XL | US Size 31 - 33 Gotta have this commando sweater!!!

Still fit, it's old enough to have seen one to Afghanistan. It's comfortable, even the arms fit and don't have lumps from being stuffed in rucksack pockets. Still good as it is but now will be a great collector's item in the coming years. Thank you MilitaryDug store for supplying it in used condition. I will buy more soon

Got this military style sweater in just 3 days from time ordered it. I have a hard time getting this type of sweater in stores in my neck of the woods. This sweater looks like the very same as what is worn in the Army in colder weather (60s-70s F temps). I’m very happy with the product. The quality, weight, etc., and plan to wear it for myself. It looks like the kind of wear-to-tear, put through the ringer and come out strong, kind of military surplus you’d see being sold in the streets of Europe during the Cold War. My rating and thoughts do not refer to its value as a Christmas gift for my military history-enthusiast husband. If he wears it, and it does the job for a day or so and then it comes off as the cloth starts to pill up from everyday wear, I’ll be glad to get it washed and ready for him again. Happy holidays!

It's hard to rate this because it's the only one I've ever owned. That being said, it is of decent quality and feels pretty thick. After one washing, it did lose some size, so you may want to go up a size. However, it did not shrink to the point where I needed to return it. So it is not "permanently shrunk" if you wash it.

Love the fit. Very warm. I wear a 2x but I got a 3x so it’s not so long. Length is ok, fits a bit big on chest and arms, which I prefer. The jacket keeps my wife very warm while we walk. Great price. Wash it with cold water, hang dry to preserve color and shape. Would purchase again.

Nice thick cotton sweater. Nice quality knit. Will be perfect in milder climates and around a campfire at the tailgate. Looks like the real deal. Will add a puffer vest to make it winter appropriate in N.E. US. Would have preferred the red one as pictured, however...just an FYI.
