The Slovakian Woodland Camouflage Combat Jacket, also known as the M97 Combat Jacket, is an excellent all-around field jacket from the Slovakian Army. Part camouflage field jacket part tactical jacket, the M97 is all business.
You can imagine how well the jacket performed when the Slovakian Army was using it as it has all of the features that a soldier would want from their field jacket. First it is well made, fits as required, and features the woodland camouflage pattern that has been battle tested and combat proven all around the world. Second these field jackets have the features you'd normally only find in tactical gear. For instance the front lower left side of the jacket has two pockets that are designed to hold extra 30-round magazines for your rifle.
In addition to the two tactical front magazine pockets, the M97 combat jacket features three pockets that run along the back of the jacket for storing gear. On the front of the jacket is a chest pocket to keep documents or your most important gear. The sleeves each have one pocket at the top with an extra reinforcing patch sewn into the forearms for greater durability.
These are simply great jackets!!!! They are very well made and durable--and mine were very gently used, with at least one having never been used (it still had the Velcro covers on the front patches). One thing to keep in mind is that they are very roomy. I usually order a size bigger on European surplus clothing and, with this jacket, this was a mistake. They seem to have been made with the intent of going over top of flak vests, etc, and are therefore quite large in that respect--not terrible, but if you want it to fit more like an M65 field coat, I'd recommend subtracting several inches from your height and chest sizes. Otherwise, you simply can't go wrong in purchasing these jackets.
The Slovakian jacket was as advertised. Jacket showed long term storage but that was taken care of at laundry. Grandson saw this jacket and fell in love with it, so I lost it as soon as I unpacked it.
Nice jacket as others said used with plenty life left in it. Is about the same weight and thickness of a US M65 field jacket. It also has buttons inside to accept a liner. Although I have not checked to see if the US field jacket liner will work in it. All pockets are button closure except the sleeve pocket and magazine pockets wich are velcro. I have found my fall winter woods bumming coat!
I wanted to give a quick update of my previous post, the magazine pockets also fit M1A/M14 .308 magazines. This is a very cool jacket.
Mine arrived in very good plus condition and has many more years of life in it .The 2 mag pockets are big enough to easily hold AR & AK mags and even large enough to hold 2 each of my longer Sterling SMG magazines. The other 7 pockets are large and will carry quite a bit more kit. I am very happy with this purchase and looking forward to taking it on my next hunt.
Got mine a little large as I like to use a layering system. With the pockets I can keep a hat ,canteen, energy bars, etc. for a ready to go jacket.
Seems like a great light jacket with a lot of pockets but I wish it had the zipper that some seem to. I had fun researching the symbol on the sleeve as well.
