Details

The Smith & Wesson story is an interesting one for sure. It started when Horace Smith and Daniel B. Wesson's first foray in 1852 saw the manufacture of a lever-action pistol known as the Volcanic pistol for their Volcanic Repeating Arms Company. Four years later, after financial difficulties led the company to come under different ownership, the pair left to begin anew and started work immediately on a newly designed revolver known as the Smith & Wesson Model 1. The rest is history. Now, over 150 years later, Smith & Wesson is still going strong and shows no signs of slowing down. With that kind of experience, it is not surprising that the company is now at the forefront of the arms industry – responsible for providing high performance firearms to the military, law enforcement and civilian markets.

But unbeknownst to many, Smith & Wesson also has its hands in a number of other markets, including firearm accessories and law enforcement products. The company even licenses the brand for a range of high-quality cutting tools like the new Smith & Wesson H.R.T. boot knife.

The Smith & Wesson H.R.T. boot knife features a small fixed-blade that measures approximately 4 1/2 inches and is constructed from 440C stainless steel – the strongest of the four grades of 440 stainless steel. Knives constructed using 440 stainless steel, which is a grade of steel known for its high levels of carbon, are typically lauded for their fantastic edge retention. Adding to the allure of the blade is the presence of a Teflon® coating to aid in the resistance of rust, corrosion and other wear. As noted, the blade features a single edge and includes an etching of the Smith & Wesson H.R.T. logo. The handle is constructed from solid aluminum cast metal and also features a non-slip ring grip made from a synthetic rubberized material. Each handle also includes a lanyard loop. The overall length of the knife is approximately 8 1/2 inches.

Nice boot knife

Nice knife, fits boot really well (Harley MC boots) Comes with very sharp edge on 1 side as is stated in advertisement but I sharpened other edge. Sheath is a loose fit but because of the way it fits in the boot its not that big of a deal, I just would prefer a firmer fit as I carry on a motorcycle and it would be more secure only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Some states require a CCW to carry concealed.
NOT A DOUBLE EDGED BLADED!

This knife was advertised as a double edge blade, but the one I received was not. It has an edge on one side of the blade but the other side has the advertised teflon coating over it and is completely dull. Trying to put an edge on the other side would be more trouble than its worth, I am a little disappointed.
