Details

The Swedish Army Antique Winter Hat is one of the first examples of a military designed extreme cold weather hat. With an approach that was duplicated and used for decades, this early Swedish hat from the 1940s still stands out as a stellar example of military design. Utilizing a dual-layered approach to fighting the cold and wet climate in extreme north Sweden these hats will still keep you as warm and dry as current issue hats.

With an exterior made from lamb skin and a quilted interior cotton liner, your head will be kept warm and dry even in the snow or freezing rain. There exists a fold-up or fold-down leather brim that can keep the sun off of your eyes. On the back of each hat is a leather sizing strap that will help cinch the hat down to provide a tighter fit when desired helping to keep our additional wind and cold.

Features:
  • Authentic Swedish Army Cold Weather Hat
  • Vintage / Antique - Most Dated 1940s
  • White Lamb Skin Exterior - Cotton Interior
  • Keeps Your Head Very Warm

The hat its superb in despite of the metal snaps that were corroded and the leather its dry. With some work, all will be good to go! For sure this hat will keep me toasty and dry too! Plus, I will be a sexy bushcrafter in the woods too! :)

The price was very fair. The hat is neat. The condition was rougher than expected. I expected wear, perhaps some dirt and was not surprised by a soldier's name inside. I was not upset by the mustiness. but was disappointed by the rusted snaps that no longer work and the rust stains they made on the material. If I wear it, I will need to do some sewing to hold the brim in place. This is the first surplus item that I got from Keep shooting that was not in surprisingly good condition and a good value.

  4. Runs Small review by Bruce on 2/25/2016

Too bad they're sold out of the XXLs; I ordered an XL [I typically wear a "Large" in all my motorcycle helmets & other hats; in properly sized headwear, I run about a size 7 & 1/4, 7 & 3/8 back when I had hair] and it is too small by far. So the XL is probably more for a size medium head. Other than that, it's a pretty neat hat, I would have loved to get one in my size, but you know what they say, "You snooze & you lose." Well, I snost & I lost; my own fault. C'est la vie!

  5. Unique Look and Servicable review by James on 1/2/2016

I would have liked to say that the item is outstanding and wonderful in every respect..... but we all appreciate honest opinions. I ordered two of the hats in the XL size and they fit my head at 71/4 size. They were manufactured in 1940 and 1941 and appear unissued although they come with a musty storage smell that will probably go away after a while with fresh air and sunlight. The metal snaps inside were corroded on both hats and separated from material but do not affect the visor function. One hat's leather visor appears to have a white mildew film on it while the other is pristine but can be cleaned up. Both hats are comfortable to wear and I personally like the look. You will certainly stand out in a crowd by wearing it ...if that is your intention. Interestingly, the shagginess of the fleece on one of the hats is noticeably more pronounced than the other, I suppose if it bugged the wearer you could trim it down. I had anticipated a little better quality for the price so I marked that area down a bit in my judgment but overall I Like the hat and it will keep my head warm this winter season.
