Quick Overview

If you went to school as a child, chances are you had some sort of nickname. If you were lucky, it was cool or funny – relating to either your name or some aspect of your personality. Some of you were likely a little less fortunate and had a nickname that was cruel – given for the sole purpose of ridicule. Anyway, it probably did not stick and you have likely gotten over it – or not. Either way, I am going to take this time to mention a few famous nicknames I have come across over the years that warrant discussion.

You are all probably familiar with the greats: "The Boss," "Ol' Blue Eyes," "The Governator," "Tricky Dick" and "Slick Willy." There are also many athletes who carry excellent nicknames as well. My favorite baseball player of all time, Ted Williams, had a number of nicknames, including "Teddy Ballgame" and the "Splendid Splinter." You could spend all day on baseball nicknames alone. Then there is "Iron" Mike Tyson, Charles "The Round Mound of Rebound" Barkley and "Magic" Johnson. Some athletes even carry firearm-related nicknames like "Pistol" Pete Maravich and Andrei "AK-47" Kirilenko – both known for their shooting abilities.

While on the subject of nicknames and firearms, how could I fail to mention the Thompson submachine gun? As you may know, the Thompson has a number of great nicknames itself, such as "Chicago Typewriter," "Trench Broom" and, of course, the "Tommy Gun." Speaking of the Thompson, Keepshooting.com offers a selection of spare parts for the firearm, including the newly-manufactured Thompson buttstock slide. The Thompson buttstock slide is a piece found on the buttstock that provides for quick attachment/detachment of the buttstock from the receiver. Manufactured to the original specifications, the buttstock slide is an excellent spare part to keep on hand as it is prone to wear.

Often, it can be hard to find reliable replacement parts for the Thompson submachine gun. Consider your search over. The Thompson buttstock slide is available for $39.95.

Spare parts are an important consideration when it comes to firearms. Like any machine, firearms rely on a series of parts to function properly, including the stock. In general, if a part breaks or fails, a repair or replacement becomes necessary immediately.

It is also important to consider availability. At this time, Keepshooting.com is seeking to provide our customers with a wide selection of replacement parts for the Thompson submachine gun. Several parts are now readily available on our website at an affordable price. If you have any need for spare parts, now would be a good time to take advantage of this offering.

The Thompson buttstock slide is the newest replacement part offered by Keepshooting.com for Thompson submachine gun. It is a newly-manufactured item made to the original specifications. Located at the forend of the buttstock, the Thompson buttstock slide is a steel bracket that allows the buttstock to be quickly and easily attached to or detached from the receiver of the firearm. This part is one of the provisions that allow the Thompson to fit easily into a violin case – as often portrayed in popular culture. The Thompson buttstock slide includes neither mounting hardware nor the release lever.

You may have seen Thompson submachine guns with folding stocks, but let us be honest here. It is not a Thompson without the wood buttstock. If your Thompson is out of commission with a buttstock that cannot be connected, consider picking up the Thompson buttstock slide today for $39.95.

All steel slide for 1928 Thompson. I was working on a West Hurley 1928 which came with an aluminum slide. The slide had cracked and needed to be replaced. It did take me a couple hours of fitting file work but it works well now. Good quality part made the difference.
