I have two older boys, the hat works for each of them as far as hat size and how they use it. One plays baseball and football, uses the hat to protect from the direct rays of the sun while on the fields. The other uses it on long bike rides to keep sweat out of his eyes and to block his skin. We use it on out summer camping trips to keep out biting flies, and a huge bug that is found in Pennsylvania. The hat blocks all but the sun's rays from his skin, keeps him cooler, which means he can stay outside for longer periods of time! The product seems to be durable and my youngest uses his with an apple attached to the rim with a bit of floral wire. He takes it everywhere. Great buy!

USMC recommends these boonie hats. Light weight yet comfortable in any climate. Excellent buy. 95% cotton with brim shape retention adjustment cord inside hat band. Brim stays straight out. Washable. Sized properly, even if a bit small. 1 size fits most, up to XXL

I really like this hat. The brim is wider than a regular Army one. I can get more coverage for the sun and more ventilation. I just wish the price was lower, because I'd buy another.
