The Umarex EBOS air rifle is leaps and bounds ahead of the Red Ryder BB gun. In fact, you will not find any lever-action spring pistons here – only an 88-gram CO2 cartridge and an electronic trigger that provides for single shots or four- and eight-round bursts. It also has a few Picatinny rails that provide the opportunity for tactical customization.
Umarex EBOS Air Rifle
Since the company's debut in 2006, Umarex USA has been a premium distributor of sporting, tactical and replica air pistols and rifles. Their world-class products represent a big chunk of several niche communities that range from air guns and airsoft to paintball and tactical accessories. Recently, the company even branched out into rimfire rifles, offering a small selection of firearms chambered for the .22 LR cartridge. But enough about the company; let us talk more about the Umarex EBOS air rifle.
EBOS, for those wondering, stands for "Electronic Burst of Steel," which is exactly what the Umarex EBOS air rifle provides. As noted, the EBOS air rifle is exactly that – an air rifle. It is not an airsoft rifle. It is designed to fire .177-caliber (4.5mm) steel BBs and is powered by disposable 88-gram CO2cartridges as well as an electronic trigger that draws its power from six AA batteries (not included), which sets it apart from a great majority of the other air guns in the Umarex line. The CO2 cartridge is inserted into the stock of the EBOS, and provides the pistol with a source of compressed air, which acts as a propellant that is released with each pull of the unique electronic trigger. Its unique power supply gives it semi-automatic firing capabilities as well as the ability to fire in four- and eight-round bursts, making the operation of this air rifle even more realistic than others. In fact, this particular air rifle is capable of discharging projectiles at a velocity of up to 400 fps.
The Umarex EBOS air rifle features a 9.7-inch, smooth-bore barrel alongside an overall length of approximately 25 inches fully assembled. Additionally, the synthetic construction gives the rifle a weight of 2 1/2 pounds – easily managed by persons of all ages. The EBOS is fed by a built-in 24-round magazine but also includes a 400-round reservoir that ensures you will always be with ammunition, even when firing eight-round bursts. Also included is a removable forward grip. Other features include a fixed front sight, a rear sight that is adjustable for both windage and elevation, a manual thumb safety and both top and bottom Picatinny rails for the attachment of lights, lasers and optics.
