Description
As noted, each USGI ECWCS Gore-Tex® jacket offered by Keepshooting.com is an authentic U.S. Military surplus item. These jackets were originally designed by ADS, Inc. and used by members of the U.S. Armed Forces, especially those serving in the U.S. Army. These jackets serve as a singular component of the Gen III Extended Climate Warfighter Clothing System (3G ECWCS), which is a radical redesign of the original Extended Cold Weather Clothing System (ECWCS) developed by the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center to provide protection to U.S. soldiers from a range of extreme combat environments.
The new Gen III ECWCS is a complete clothing system that features seven different levels of protection to provide defense from environmental conditions that range from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. The new system is lighter and less bulky while providing improved sizing and innovative technology. The USGI ECWCS Gore-Tex® jacket is part of the sixth level of protection and is classified as an extreme wet/cold weather jacket to be used as a hard-shell layer.
Though many of these jackets appear to be brand new and are in excellent condition, they have been previously issued as evidenced by names written in some. But even though they have been previously issued they remain free from the typical rips, tears, stains and scents that are characteristic of previously issued military surplus. In other words, these jackets are in prime condition and ready to extend their service for years to come. Those looking for a warm jacket to fight subzero temperatures and rainy days will find the USGI ECWCS Gore-Tex® jacket an excellent option.
The USGI ECWCS Gore-Tex® jacket features a seam-sealed, dual-layered Gore-Tex® construction, which provides for a jacket this is lightweight, waterproof, windproof and breathable. For those who may be unaware, Gore-Tex® is a synthetic fabric that is waterproof, windproof and breathable. It is guaranteed to keep you dry and comfortable and used in a wide range of applications including, military clothing. Gore-Tex® itself is a membrane sewn into the garment between the outer shell and the inner lining that features a micro porous structure composed of tiny little holes that are about 20,000 times smaller than a water droplet, which ensures that water cannot seep through. Other features characteristic of this jacket include a stowaway hood, an elastic cinch cord waistband, Velcro® adjustable cuffs and two zippered pass-through pockets.
The other noteworthy aspect of the USGI ECWCS Gore-Tex® jacket is the camouflage pattern that adorns it. Some may recognize this pattern as the same one used in the U.S. Army’s Adaptive Combat Uniform, or ACU. While many mistakenly refer to the camouflage pattern as ACU, the camouflage pattern is actually known as the Universal Camouflage Pattern, or UCP. UCP is a digital camouflage pattern modeled after the United States Marine Corps’ MARPAT camouflage and blends three different colors – Urban gray 501, Desert sand 500 and Foliage green 502.
All that is left to do is hope that those reading are not big fans of the cold, wet weather typical of winter. If you find yourself longing for summer, consider picking up the USGI ECWCS Gore-Tex® jacket today – wearing one will give you the hot, dry feelings of summer in no time.
