Fits very tight and on the small side. I believe its wool as it very rough and not soft at all. I wear merino wool socks and they are soft and comfortable can't say the same for this hat. It seems well made. It says hand wash and lay flat to dry. Hopefully it will soften up and not shrink after I wash it.
