The hat is very warm. The wool's clearly inexpensive and a bit scratchy, but it will keep your head warm.
The knit is bulky, so it's a bit difficult to fold up and put in a smaller pocket, so if you're looking for something lighter weight for a warmer climate this might not be the best choice.
I liked mine enough that I bought another after I lost it.
