About Beretta PX4 Magazines at Keep Shooting
Keep Shooting carries 12 factory Beretta PX4 magazines covering the Full Size and Subcompact PX4 Storm variants across 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP. Our lineup spans nine Full Size magazines (9mm 10rd/15rd/17rd/20rd, .40 S&W 10rd/12rd/14rd/17rd, .45 ACP 10rd) and three Subcompact magazines (9mm 13rd, 9mm 13rd with finger rest, .40 S&W 10rd). All are genuine factory Beretta OEM production from the Italian Gardone Val Trompia factory — the same facility that has produced the PX4 Storm since the pistol's 2004 release and the Beretta 92 series family for decades before that. For the complete Beretta magazine catalog across all pistol platforms, see our parent Beretta Magazines category.
The Beretta PX4 Storm was introduced in 2004 as Beretta's polymer-framed duty and concealed- carry pistol — the company's answer to the polymer-framed competition from Glock, Sig, and H&K that had come to dominate the global duty-pistol market through the 1990s and early 2000s. The PX4 is built around Beretta's signature rotating-barrel locking system: instead of the Browning- style tilting-barrel action used by nearly every other modern polymer pistol, the PX4's barrel rotates approximately 30 degrees during the firing cycle, redirecting recoil energy laterally rather than vertically. The practical result is a noticeably flatter recoil impulse and faster sight-recovery time for follow-up shots — the PX4 genuinely feels softer-shooting than a comparably- chambered Glock or Sig in side-by-side comparison.
The rotating-barrel action on the PX4 is directly inherited from the Beretta 8000 Cougar — the mid-1990s Beretta compact pistol that pioneered the rotating-barrel design in Beretta's catalog. The PX4 also shares its trigger and safety system with the Beretta 92 series — the long-running M9 platform that served as the US military's standard sidearm from 1985 to 2017 — meaning PX4 owners who trained on the 92 or the M9 transition to the PX4 without relearning the controls. The PX4 is, in essence, Beretta's attempt to deliver the ergonomic advantages of the 92/Cougar design family in a modern polymer-framed package. For the complete Beretta catalog including the 92 series magazines and other platforms, see our Beretta brand page.
The PX4 Storm family grew through three platform variants: Full Size (2004 original release — 4-inch barrel, 17+1 9mm capacity standard), Subcompact (2008 release — 9x19mm, with .40 S&W following later), and Compact (2011 release — sized between Full and Subcompact, retaining the rotating-barrel action but with a shorter slide and grip). The PX4 family also gave its name to a Storm platform family that includes the CX4 Storm pistol-caliber carbine (introduced 2003) and the MX4 Storm compact carbine — the CX4 notably uses PX4-compatible magazines, which means a shooter with both pistol and carbine feeds both from the same magazine inventory.
Magazine compatibility is subframe-specific. The PX4 Storm family uses three distinct magazine subframes — Full Size, Compact, and Subcompact — and magazines are NOT interchangeable across subframes. A Full Size magazine will not fit a Subcompact frame; a Subcompact magazine will not lock into a Full Size frame. Within a single subframe, however, magazines of different capacities will interchange as long as the caliber matches (a Full Size 17-round 9mm mag will work in any Full Size 9mm PX4; a Full Size 20-round mag is taller but also fits the same frame). When ordering, match the magazine's subframe designation to your specific PX4 variant.
The Full Size PX4 magazines in our catalog cover nine combinations of caliber and capacity. In 9mm, we stock the 10-round ($46.47) compliance magazine for restricted-capacity states, the 15-round ($43.61) mid-capacity option, the standard 17-round ($42.76) duty magazine that matches the factory Full Size 9mm configuration, and the extended 20-round ($48.52) range magazine. In .40 S&W, we carry 10-round ($40.79) and 12-round ($45.17) compliance magazines, the 14-round ($41.83) full-capacity magazine that matches the factory .40 Full Size configuration, and an extended 17-round ($48.52) range option. In .45 ACP, we stock the standard 10-round ($58.90) magazine — the Beretta PX4 .45 ACP only ships in the 10-round capacity from the factory, so this is the standard-capacity magazine for that caliber.
The Subcompact PX4 magazines cover the three primary Subcompact configurations. The 9mm 13-round magazine ($41.83) is the standard factory Subcompact mag — flush-fit with the grip, compact enough for concealed-carry applications. The 9mm 13-round magazine with finger rest ($45.17) is the same capacity with an extended baseplate that provides a three-finger grip for shooters who find the flush-fit two-finger grip cramped. The .40 S&W 10-round Subcompact magazine ($45.17) is the standard factory Subcompact .40 magazine.
Why stick with factory Beretta magazines rather than aftermarket alternatives? Two reasons. First, the PX4's rotating-barrel action places tighter timing demands on magazine feed geometry than a Browning-action pistol does — the barrel's rotational movement during cycling requires magazines with factory-spec feed lips and follower geometry to feed reliably. Aftermarket PX4 magazines exist but have historically produced higher rates of feed failures than factory units; this matters for a duty or defensive pistol where reliability is the primary specification. Second, factory Beretta magazines are warranty-compatible — Beretta's service department will warranty a PX4 running factory magazines but will push back on warranty claims if the pistol has been running aftermarket mags that may have contributed to any feed or timing issue.
The PX4 Storm remains one of the most widely adopted modern polymer-framed duty pistols in civilian and select law- enforcement use. The platform is carried by municipal police departments in several countries, Italian Carabinieri and other Italian law-enforcement units, and civilian concealed-carry and home-defense users across the US market. The G model (de-cocker-only, no manual safety), F model (full DA/SA with safety), D model (double-action-only), and C model (constant-action / Constant Alert) variants all feed from the same magazine family within each subframe — the variant difference affects the trigger group and safety system, not the magazine well or feed geometry.

Keep Shooting ships all Beretta PX4 magazines from our Pennsylvania warehouse with free shipping on orders over $49.95 and hassle-free returns. Magazine shipments comply with destination-state capacity restrictions; orders for 15-round and higher magazines will not ship to states that prohibit magazines over 10-round capacity (California, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Hawaii, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Illinois, Vermont, and Washington DC all impose some form of magazine capacity restriction — verify your specific state rules before ordering). Whether you're a PX4 Full Size duty-pistol owner building out a range-bag inventory, a Subcompact concealed-carry owner stocking spare magazines for everyday-carry rotation, or a multi-caliber PX4 collector assembling magazines for 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP variants, every PX4 magazine in our catalog is authentic Beretta factory OEM production — the only magazines Beretta itself will warranty on the PX4 platform.
