The M14 Rifle, formally known as the United States Rifle, Caliber 7.62mm, M14, has a rich history dating back to the early 1950s. It was designed by Springfield Armory as a replacement for the M1 Garand and the M2 Carbine, combining features of both. The M14 is a gas-operated, selective-fire rifle that can fire semi-automatically or in three-round bursts, with a 20-round detachable box magazine. It operates on the principle of direct impingement, where gases from the fired round are directed back into the receiver to cycle the action.
